We are currently rolling our way to Week 4 of the NFL season, and with a healthy bankroll through three weeks, our mission is currently on track.

Let’s take a look at some of the early week NFL odds for Week 4 of the season, and see if there is any value that is worth a wager before the weekend. With Thursday night around the corner, I think I have uncovered some sports betting value for both Thursday and Sunday.

49ers vs. Rams

Thursday night should be another hard-hitting game on a short week, this time between another set of divisional rivals. The 49ers head into St. Louis Thursday night and the betting odds favor the road 49ers here at -3, despite losing their last two games. The Niners however come into this game likely getting back their star tight end, Vernon Davis.

Davis has been practicing this week, and he should add a lot back to the San Francisco passing game, which was basically outmatched and shutdown this past week against the Colts. While the 49ers may be slightly overvalued in the odds this week, I do think they could come up with an easy win against a Rams team not in position to put up much of a fight.

However, the Niners do have some issues here this week, as two of their defensive starters could miss this game. Patrick Willis and Nnamdi Asomugha are both still not practicing, and their status for Thursday’s game is up in the air. If they don’t see the practice field today, their status for this game will be seriously in doubt. However, their absences would not change my NFL pick on this game.

While the Rams aren’t dealing with as many injuries, they got blasted by the Cowboys last week, and if Frank Gore gets the touches he should get in this game, the Rams are in trouble. DeMarco Murray ran all over them this past week, and if the Niners hold to the same type of plan, this game is over before it begins.

The Rams are only 2-4 SU in their last 6 games against the Niners, and they are only 1-5 ATS in their last six home games overall. With St. Louis’ defense not where it needs to be, especially on a short week, I am laying the three points with the Niners.

NFL Pick: Take the 49ers minus the points, -3 (-110) at William Hill

Cowboys vs. Chargers

Dallas heads out on the road this week to play the Chargers, and the NFL odds for this one favor the road Boys at -2.5. San Diego may be only 1-2 SU this season, but when they come home, their defense normally gets better. 14 of their last 21 home games have gone under the total, and even though that may be a good bet here also, I think the Chargers taking points at home is the way to go here.

Dallas is due for a clunker, and last week’s big win over the Rams is the perfect prelude. Almost every time Dallas gets a big blowout win, they are overvalued the next week, and it seems to be happening again here in Week 4. The Cowboys should not be favored on the road this week. San Diego is better on both ends of the ball than most casual sports fans recognize, and at home against the Cowboys, I see a cover here by the Chargers. Do you really trust Tony Romo that much?
