Swinger went 2-0 in his NFL picks last week and hopes to keep the wagon rolling in Week 2 of our NFL odds preview.

Swinger's Record (2-0, +2.00 units) *Each wager is graded from 1 to 5 units*

We kicked off our NFL season in fine fashion as we connected on two plays, one of which was ridiculed by SBR poster 747planes in the season-long thread I've devoted in the Player's Talk forum. However, they were unfortunately both one unit plays because frankly, it was Week 1 and there were too many unknowns.

Yes we clicked with the Lions -4 over the Vikings and the Chiefs -4 over the Jaguars, which were plays predicated on teams we consider up and coming versus a pair of bottom feeders. I've got three plays lined up this week and there would be nothing better than keeping this money train rolling throughout the season. So hop aboard, and let's see where this takes us!

P.S. The record I will use is for my weekly Swinger's Picks column and not any NFL articles assigned to me by SBR during the week. Last week I went 1-1 (+0.8 units) in those NFL odds previews but going forward I am quoting only the record you find here.

Dolphins vs. Colts

The Dolphins looked great on defense but then again, they played the Browns. As for offense their running game was downright offensive as they collected only 23 yards on the ground. Yeah, twenty-freakin-three yards - are you kidding me? Either the Browns are the new Steel Curtain or the Fins can't run the ball. Yeah, I'll go for the latter as well. Miami got the 23-10 victory due to a solid performance by Ryan Tannehill and three field goals by Caleb Strugis.

The Colts almost sent their suicide pool backers home after Week 1. Andrew Luck was hurried throughout yet managed two TD strikes and a plunge into the endzone. He tossed for a modest 178 yards but did all the right things while his rushing attack moved the ball consistently against the Raiders who had nine new starters on the defensive side of the ball. But the Dolphins are not the Raiders and should be a tougher test for the Colts. Conversely, the Colts will be a sterner test for Miami. I don't see a lot of crooked numbers in this game. Two stout defenses combined with controlled offenses spell low scoring. Let the other guys figure out who covers this one. We'll go with Under 43 ½ for 3 units at

Panthers vs. Bills

The Bills had their Super Bowl last week when they were moments removed from defeating the Patriots. Perhaps I should say they were moments away from the Patriots beating themselves. This is not a good team and don't let their close encounter with success last week fool you. The Panthers on the other hand are a good team that played against a tremendous defense in Seattle and fell because of it. Cam Newton and the Panthers roar to victory in this one.

Chargers vs. Eagles

Did you love the new Chip Kelly, high-octane offense from Philly in their 33-27 road victory over the Redskins last week? Did you care that their defense fell apart late in the game? Me neither.

How about the Bolts almost upsetting the Texans but blowing a 21 point lead? Do you know how you blow a 21 point lead? Well first you've got to score a bunch of touchdowns and then you have to let up a bunch.

So here we have two revved up offenses and not a whole lotta defense. Sure the total is high but it's supposed to be that way to scare a few pansy contrarians into betting Under. But not us. We're red-blooded American males and we call'em as we see'em.

The Woodman's Corner (0-1, -1.1 units) - Guest Handicapper

My buddy Woodman is a dog lover. Just ask his two Newfies Lulu and Dewey. And here he goes again with his best play of the week on the Chargers +7 ½ in his NFL picks.
