Which of the Week 13 matchups are we looking to for our NFL picks, and which betting lines look the most tempting?

It is the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and there will be no shortage of opportunities to make sports picks in general and NFL picks spread over several days. The last three weeks have been good at 6-1-2 against the spread, taking me to 17-12-3 ATS for the season.

Buccaneers Are Play On Material

Head coach Greg Schiano was all but gone out of Tampa Bay, but with three straight victories and four consecutive covers, he’s at least putting up a fight for future employment in west Florida and has changed the minds of those perusing the NFL odds. Reports have Schiano backing off the tough-guy routine which might work with college players, but not at the NFL level.

Both Tampa Bay and Carolina are playing excellent football these days. The Panthers are emerging as a viable threat in the NFC and overcame a flat first half performance and escaped with a late victory over Miami on the road.

This NFC South confrontation opened at 9.5 or 10 points at several sportsbooks and we have lost value on backing the Bucs, but, with how they are playing, being more than touchdown underdog appears generous. Let’s also keep in mind the Panthers have a big date next week in New Orleans and might not be fully focused for a second straight week. I’ll take the points with the road pooch.

Houston is More Done than the Astros

Last Sunday was a look into the hearts and souls of the New England Patriots and Houston Texans. Tom Brady and his teammates were down 24-0 at home to Denver and were teetering on being wiped out. New England never panicked, fought for some momentum and caught the Broncos before finishing them off in overtime in a remarkable contest.

Houston had the “perfect situation” to end their eight-game losing streak in hosting Jacksonville. Instead, the Texans were lifeless and outgained by the Jaguars by 115 yards in stumbling to a 13-6 defeat.

Houston should just wave the white flag since it is clear to all NFL football handicappers they have packed this season in with a 1-5 and 0-6 ATS home record. With the Brady Bunch now in position to possibly secure a No. 2 seed in the AFC, they will show no mercy to a group of malingers.

It was a perfect time for a bye week for Cincinnati, allowing quarterback Andy Dalton to clear his head and the walking wounded to heal for the Bengals.

Often, how Dalton plays so go the Bengals and facing the 28th ranked defense with the weapons he has at his disposal should work to Cincinnati’s advantage.

Kudos to San Diego for ending their three-game losing streak at one of the tougher stadiums in the NFL last Sunday. Philip Rivers played incredibly well and he took advantage of several questionable defensive calls by Kansas City coaches.

However, the situation certainly does not favor the Chargers, who are 0-6 ATS in home games after allowing 30 points or more the last three seasons. With the way the betting odds are, Cincinnati just has to win the game and does so by a touchdown or more.
