Live Week 1 NFL Betting Odds

Steelers vs. Patriots O/U 51.0
Just as the spread, the total line went up when news of Brady’s release from suspension was announced. At some sportsbooks the line went up to a high of 55 before settling on the 51-total mark. Based on preseason accounts, even the original 49-point line seemed steep in our opinion. Steelers have a lot of injuries to deal with and their offense struggled to get things going consistently. Their defense was the worst in total points allowed as it gave up 122 points, but they did have the one extra game. With Brady back the offense should look better in this game than it did in the preseason. The Patriots could steamroll the Steelers but we’re going with the UNDER 51 on our NFL picks.
NFL Picks: UNDER 51.0 (-110) at 5Dimes

Panthers vs. Jaguars O/U 41
The Panthers are after a solid preseason in which three of their four games saw them put up more than 20 points; only the 17-16 loss to the Patriots stands as their lowest scoring account. Offensively, there is a lot to like about the Panthers as a result. That said their defense is pretty stout and with a week 1 game against the Jaguars, the Panthers’ O-line might not need to put up too many points to get the win.
NFL Picks: UNDER 41.0 (-102) at Pinnacle

Browns vs. Jets O/U 40
The Jets are known for having a really good defense but their offense isn’t too shabby. The jury is out on the Browns, particularly after a 24-0 loss to the Bears in the last lap of exhibition games on Thursday. The balance tips towards the UNDER almost overwhelmingly across sports betting circles. For our money, we’re leaning towards the OVER 40.
NFL Picks: OVER 40.0 (-110) at Bet365

Packers vs. Bears O/U 50
The Green Bay Packers are renowned for their offensive prowess. Heck, 15 of their last 22 games have gone OVER pre-set NFL betting totals. As well, the OVER has hit in 13 of their last 15 games on the road. That said, the total has gone UNDER in six of the last eight games with Chicago on the road, partly down to the inconsistency on the Bears’ offense. Predictably, the UNDER, therefore, seems to be the consensus bet at the moment in NFL betting circles. It’s worth noting that the Packers have cracked the OVER three times in a row against the Bears, with a 55-14 win (home), 38-17 win (road) and 33-28 win (home), all games boasted a total line range of 51-53-points. If that NFL betting trend holds true, the OVER might just be the smart NFL pick.
NFL Picks: OVER 50.0 (-110) at BetCris

Colts vs. Bills O/U 46
Undoubtedly, the Colts are an excellent team with one of the best offenses in the league. They didn’t show a whole lot in the preseason, playing their cards close to their chest. The Bills burst out of the gates and looked strong on both sides of the ball. This game could go either way really.
NFL Picks: UNDER 46.0 (-110) at WagerWeb

Chiefs vs. Texans O/U 40.5
The Chiefs offense looked much improved in the preseason as Kanas City finished with a 4-0 SU record and scored 106 points and conceded just 59 points. Texans have lots to be optimistic about with a 2-2 SU finish in the preseason, which included scoring 74 points and conceding 58 points. Both sides look quite polished on both sides of the ball, which could tip this game either way on the totals. We’re leaning towards the OVER 40.5-points on our NFL picks.
NFL Picks: OVER 40.5 (-110) at The Greek

Dolphins vs. Redskins O/U 43.5
The Dolphins debut in Washington is a highly-anticipated affair, with a lot of focus placed on its revamped defense. Redskins, on the other hand, will be starting the season without their original starter RGIII (concussion). Kirk Cousins, however, showed he’s up for the task as he won the starting role by leading the Redskins to a 3-1 SU record. It’s a tough call, but we’re leaning towards the UNDER on our NFL picks.
NFL Picks: UNDER 43.5 (-110) at Bet365

Seahawks vs. Rams O/U 41
This game has the potential to go against the grain in our opinion. NFL odds makers have rolled out a low-ish 41-point total, as a tribute to the strength of defense in both camps. We already know that the Seattle O-line can light up when it wants to. What we don’t know is how Nick Foles, who can light up an offense, will play for a full game with the Rams. Consensus betting is dipping into the UNDER but we’re of the opposite mind. It’s a long shot NFL pick, perhaps.
NFL Picks: OVER 41.0 (-110) at William Hill

Lions vs. Chargers O/U 45.5
The Lions and Chargers collide in week 1 NFL betting with a lot of attention placed on both teams for different reasons. Both sides are solid on both sides of the ball, which has us leaning towards the UNDER on our NFL picks and a close game overall. Detroit’s offense can light up but their defense is still stout. Same goes for the Chargers, who were amongst the teams to allow the fewest points against in the preseason.
NFL Picks: UNDER 45.5 (-110) at Island Casino

Saints vs. Cardinals O/U 47
The Saints flattered to deceive yet again? The Saints finished with a disappointing 0-4 SU mark in the preseason, scoring a measly 74 points and conceding 121 points, prompting many to consider the defensive issues that plagued them last season to resurface in 2015-2016. With so many uncertainties on both sides of the ball and playing on the road, the total seems to be a touch too high. Cardinals’ offense is solid but they have a stout defense. IF the defense does its part, the offense might not need to do too much.
NFL Picks: UNDER 47.0 (-110) at Bookmaker

Ravens vs. Broncos O/U 49
High totals are nothing new where the Broncos are concerned, but there have been several big changes in their camp that may see the Broncos put up less heady numbers. Then again with touchdown guru Peyton Manning leading the charge against a Ravens side capable of putting up the points at a fast clip this game could very well crack the 49.0 total.
NFL Picks: OVER 49.0 (-110) at YouWager

Bengals vs. Raiders O/U 43.5
The Bengals went 6-11-0 over-under last season (including the playoffs). Seven of their last nine games overall have gone UNDER. On the opposite side, the Raiders went 10-6-0 over-under last season, largely down to being blown out for most of the season. Down the stretch they improved and they finished by going UNDER in six of their last seven games.
NFL Picks: UNDER 43.5 (-105) at Pinnacle

Titans vs. Bucs O/U 42
Two teams debuting rookie quarterbacks in week 1 NFL betting means a nervy game all around. It wouldn’t surprise anybody if the pair struggling to connect with their respective weapons and put up the points.
NFL Picks: UNDER 42.0 (-104) at Heritage

Giants vs. Cowboys O/U 51.5
The Cowboys didn’t do a whole lot in the preseason that would warrant such a steep total betting line. They only put up 48 points through four games, 21 of which came in the last game against the Texans. Neither did the Giants, who looked so-so from game-to-game. This total line must be the residual of the Cowboys’ stellar 2014 season, in which Tony Romo finished at the top of the offensive charts. That was seven months ago. And it’s game 1 of a brand new NFL season.
NFL Picks: UNDER 51.5 (-110) at WagerWeb

Eagles vs. Falcons O/U 55.5
By and large, the expectation is that this game will be the highest scoring affair in week 1. Eagles soared through the preseason behind their new quarterback Sam Bradford while Matt Ryan and the Falcons O-line look sharp. Both teams seem to live and die by their offenses first so a 55.5-point total is no surprise.
NFL Picks: OVER 55.5 (-110) at 5Dimes

Vikings vs. 49ers O/U 41.5
This is the toughest game to call in week 1 NFL betting because it could go either way depending on which team dictates the proceedings on the field. Vikings are solid on both sides of the ball and they could put up the requisite numbers on the scoreboard. Niners’ defense though is still not going to rollover, even if they’re facing potentially unsteady play from Colin Kaepernick and the O-line.
NFL Picks: UNDER 41.5 (-110) at JustBet
