The NFL preseason only serves as conduit to energize the team fan bases, have the teams assemble their rosters and prepare for the opening of the season. Except in extreme situations, do we ever really learn anything memorable?

The NFL Season is upon us. Check out our Week 1 Opening Odds!

Let’s look at the NFL odds for four teams who are possible ‘fade’ material in Week 1, including one squad which has gotten too much preseason love.

Denver overrated, Baltimore, not so much

For more coverage on this game, read the Ravens/Broncos Odds Report!

Not long ago, this was looking like a good wager with the defending Super Bowl champions catching nine points, but as I complete this article, the Ravens are down to 7.5.

Of course Denver will be hyped up to extract a measure of revenge against Baltimore from their playoff loss and the Ravens lost a vast amount of starters and leadership in the locker room. However, at least for one game, what will matter is executing the schemes.

The Broncos are lacking a pass rush and Joe Flacco is an exceptional deep thrower down the right side of the field to expose the Denver’s secondary. Denver might want revenge and win, yet Baltimore has pride and covers.

Dallas has to prove itself

For a full break down of this game, check out the Giants vs. Cowboys Opening Odds Report!

Like the heat and humidity in Dallas in August and September, this is going to be the year for the Cowboys. And with rare exception since Barry Switzer was let go 15 years ago, the results have been mediocre.

Jason Garrett is in his fourth year as head coach and his teams are 3-13 ATS as home favorites. Dallas is a three-point favorite for this Sunday night affair and has lost four in a row as home favorites to the New York football Giants.

Can the 'Boys turn it around to win and cover? Certainly. Nonetheless, Eli Manning and the G-Men know how to win at Jerry’s palace.

Cleveland not ready for prime time

Read the Dolphins vs. Browns Week 1 Odds Preview!

The Browns looked improved in the preseason and the blending of QB Brandon Weeden and coach Norv Turner yielded positive results. But Weeden is learning a new offense with a new head coach in Rob Chudzinski and it is far from certain he’s in harmony with his pass catchers.

Cleveland opened at +1 and was switched to -1 by sports bettors buying the hype. Miami is a very profitable 23-11-1 ATS as a road underdog the past five years and wins the game. Consider the Dolphins for your NFL picks.

Eagles not ready to take flight

For more in-depth information, check out the Eagles vs. Redskins Week 1 Odds preview!

RG3 is the announced starting quarterback for Washington’s season opener against division rival Philadelphia. The Eagles really are a mystery with Chip Kelly as head coach. Kelly might be a very good coach at this level; but this will play out in time. Unfortunately, his best option at quarterback is Mike Vick, who is a coach killer at this time in his career and is bound to make mistakes at the worst time. The Redskins take advantage and win going away. Take the 'Skins for your sports picks
