This week's edition of Monday Night Football will pit Philip Rivers and the Chargers up against Jay Cutler and the Bears. What are the NFL odds forecasting for Week 9?

Odds Overview
Though they've lost four in a row and six of their last even, the Chargers are still listed as favorites on Week 9's NFL odds board. They're favored by four across a large majority of the best online sportsbooks, including 5Dimes, Pinnacle and Bovada.

We'll be focusing on a pick against the spread in this feature, but for those wishing to make a play on the total, the O/U is currently up at 49 points.

San Diego Chargers
It's certainly been a rough season for the San Diego Chargers so far. They've won just two games all year long, those coming over Detroit and Cleveland (both at home), and will take a four-game losing streak into Monday night's battle with another struggling team in Chicago.

It's easy to see where San Diego has excelled and where they've struggled. No team in the NFL has averaged more passing yards per game than the Chargers, and then they've really had a tough time defensively, particularly against the run. Having allowed 28.4 points per game, San Diego is ranked 27th in scoring defense ahead of Week 9's primetime matchup.

One of the few highlights in San Diego's season has been the play of Philip Rivers, who has completed 69.8 percent of his pass attempts for 2,753 yards along with a 18:7 TD:INT ratio. He'll hate that he doesn't have leading wideout Keenan Allen available for the forseeable future, but there are a lot of other weapons on this roster that can make plays. We should be seeing another stat-stuffing performance out of Rivers on Monday.

Chicago Bears
Already in the midst of a forgettable season, the Chicago Bears were dealt another blow this past week when stud running back Matt Forte was injured in a 23-20 home loss to Minnesota.

It was yet another crushing blow to a team that's battled through their fair share of setbacks already this season. The Bears, now at 2-5 overall on the season ahead of only Detroit (1-7) in the NFC North, it's going to take quite the turnaround for them to reach the playoffs. Chicago's awful defensive showings have been hard for a talented offense to overcome, as the Bears are allowing 28.9 points per game on average, the 29th-worst mark in the entire NFL.

Obviously, that doesn't bode well ahead of this trip to San Diego to take on a desperate, but still very potent offensive team in the Chargers. With Forte out, look for Jeremy Langford to step in and pick up a majority of the work out of the backfield, although we suspect we'll see Chicago employing even more of a pass-first mentality against San Diego; we all know how much Cutler loves to sling the ball, and he's got a lot of weapons around him.

We like the look of the OVER as well, if you're considering a total wager, but as far as the spread goes, we have a feeling San Diego will rise up to the challenge and see off Chicago on Monday night.

Injuries have really hurt both of these teams, but for San Diego, Philip Rivers has proven that he can still help this offense put plenty of points on the board no matter who's surrounding him.

Coming in, Chicago has yet to win a game on the road, while both of the Chargers' victories have come at home. With the crowd in their corner, we're expecting another big day at the office for Rivers and the San Diego offense, and thus we'll add the favorites to our collection of NFL picks for Week 9.
