The Texans have been listed as early 6.5-point favorites, a line that begs bettors to take the Titans on the road in week 4. Read on as our expert breaks down the matchup and gives his free pick.

Now that my Week 3 is thankfully in the books (0-3 ATS, ouch.), it is time to take a very early look at Week 4 odds to get this bad taste out of my mouth. Certain books are much better at putting out lines earlier than others, and this is the situation in which you need a book such as BetOnline, that gives odds nearly a week in advance. Take a look at our list of sportsbooks offering bonuses right now, but if it is early lines that you are after, BetOnline is among the best.

An early line that is piquing my attention at the moment is the Tennessee Titans (1-2) visiting the Houston Texans (2-1). In a division with no team carrying a positive scoring differential, a win by the Texans in this game could give them an advantage in division standings early in the season. The Texans have been listed as early 6.5-point favorites at BetOnline, a line that begs bettors to take the Titans on the road.

The Texans are coming off an embarrassing 27-0 loss vs the New England Patriots on Thursday, who plays “next man up” with the best of them. That game got out of hand quickly for Houston, who came into the game on a short week after a quality win against the Kansas City Chiefs. It was the first loss of the year for Houston, who had won 6 straight games including the preseason this year. It was also the 3rd under in a row for the Texans.

Marcus Mariota comes into Houston after a dreadful game at home against the Oakland Raiders, where the former Oregon Ducks went 17 for 33 for 214 yards and had 2 interceptions and a fumble lost, for a QB rating of 46.8. The Titans leaned heavily on DeMarco Murray in the game, as he was efficient out of the backfield while gaining 7.1 yards per carry and also caught 5 passes for an 8.2 yards’ average, amassing 155 yards from scrimmage in the process. The good news was that the Titans defense stiffened up in the 2nd half and shut the Raiders out, but the damage was done and they lost the game 17-10.

Tennessee Titans vs Houston Texans
Now that I see that the early total is listed in this game at 40.5, I see that the books expect the defensive prowess of both of these teams to continue here. And really, this is a tall order for Mariota to come into Houston and put up a bunch of points on the top passing defense in the league, as Houston is allowing an NFL leading 151.3 yards per game and has a best in the NFL 10 sacks. With Houston not tearing it up either and reliant leaning on the running game, I like the under here even at 40.5, which is my early lean betting pick for this game and Week 4 action.
