Broncos and Texans got their exhibition bids off to a bright start, but something is going to have to give when they collide in Houston, marking week 2 NFL betting in the preseason. Here’s a preview and NFL picks.
Denver Broncos Solid In Opener
Denver Broncos came away with a statement win over the Seattle Seahawks in week1 NFL preseason betting. It would be a touch overly optimistic to call the 22-20 win a gauntlet throwing win for the coming season, but the Denver Broncos are one to spot on your NFL picks and as far as preparations go things do look promising.
Brock Osweiller was the hero of the game as he led five scoring drives to lift the Broncos to the narrow victory. Peyton Manning didn’t participate in the game, relegated to the side lines after pre-game warmups, but the made over showed lots of positive signs as the Broncos rushed for 101 yards in the first half.
Houston Texans Beat Niners In Opener
The Houston Texans rolled to a 23-10 win over the Niners at home in week 1 NFL preseason betting. Brian Hoyer, Tom Savage and Ryan Mallet put in a good accounts for their separate bids to be the starting quarterback in Houston, fuelling the controversy further before the season gets off the ground.
Hoyer threw a 58-yard touchdown pass on Houston’s first drive while Mallet went 10 of 11 for 90 yards. Savage went 8 of 14 for 97 yards and one touchdown.
By all accounts, former Tom Brady understudy Ryan Mallet is set to get the start against the Broncos this weekend. Houston is synonymous for its defense but now they might have an offense that has more of a pulse than it did over the last few seasons with three solid quarterbacks. That’s quite the compliment for the Texans and a necessary development. Neither is of the ilk of Andrew Luck, but if Houston Texans are to give the Colts’ lightning offense a run for its money in the AFC South they’ll need to have shot-callers that can rise to the occasion.
NFL Betting Tips and Picks:
Both the Broncos and Texans rested many of their starters in game 1 of the preseason. They won’t risk them overly in game 2 for fear of untimely injuries, but we’re sure to see some of them take a turn on the field. Most likely, Peyton Manning will get a few series under his belt before ceding the field to Osweiller. On the other side of the coin, we could see more of J.J. Watt and, perhaps, even Jadeveon Clowney could be ready.
On paper, this is stacking up to be a very interesting clash. Houston has home edge, which equates to the advantage on the NFL odds board as the 3-point favorites. But Broncos’s offense just might have a little bit more punch against the Houston Texans than the other way around, which leads us to believe that the Denver Broncos are the value NFL pick as the 3-point road dogs.
