Can the Tampa Bay Buccaneers bounce back from a horrendous 2-14 season? If the NFL odds were any indication, expectations are appropriately low. Here's our game-by-game preview for the Buccaneers in 2015, complete with NFL picks.

Loving On Lovie Smith
Lovie Smith is one of those coaches that many in the NFL respect and admire, but he's got his work cut out in his second term with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after leading his boys to a 2-14 SU season in 2014. Some positive offseason moves, interesting NFL draft picks and an encouraging minicamp, has the organization quietly optimistic, along with their fans.

Pieces are in place for the Buccaneers to be more competitive this season. Odds makers, however, force NFL betting expectations low. They send the Buccaneers into 2015 with a projected season win total of 6, with the OVER trading at -105 NFL odds and the UNDER trading at -125 NFL odds.

All indications are for the UNDER, obviously. It's slightly favored over the OVER in season win totals betting. On the bright side, the strength of their NFL schedule is favorable and could see them crack the 6 win totals.

Last season, the Buccaneers had the 19th toughest NFL schedule with a winning percentage of 0.484. This year they have been given the 29th toughest schedule (in other words, third easiest) with a winning percentage of 0.425. That's good for a few more wins than they had last season, surely.

Week 1: vs. Tennessee (home), Sunday, Sept 13 at 4:25 PM
As far as opening games go, this is a perfect game with which to ease into the NFL 2015 season. The Titans were just as bad as the Bucs by the numbers last season, producing a 2-14 SU account. So the playing field is level you could say. Many NFL bettors and experts are gagging for this clash between last season's flunkies nonetheless as they're hoping the NFL debuts of Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota will be on the cards, what should make for an interesting game. Both teams are rebuilding essentially, but by all accounts Bucs have the better defense. This is also a home game, so we're giving it to them even though they went 0-8 SU at home last season. Talk about bold.

NFL Picks: Win
Record 1-0

Week 2: vs. New Orleans (road), Sunday, Sept 20 at 1 PM
Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints are coming off a terrible season by their lofty standards. But in a matchup between Drew Brees and Mike Glennon or Jameis Winston, which quarterback would you back? Keep in mind this game is taking place at the Superdome in week 2 NFL betting.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 1-1

Week 3: vs. Houston (road), Sunday, Sept 27 at 1 PM
The Houston Texans have many question marks under center and that might take the shine off of them in the 2015 NFL season. They still have J.J. Watt and his motley crew on defense. Jameis Winston or Mike Glennon at centre won't matter. It's a road game for the Bucs and one they'll be hard pressed to win.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 1-2

Week 4: vs. Carolina (home), Sunday, Oct 4 at 1 PM
The Bucs have struggled in the NFC South over the last few seasons. Week 4 NFL betting sees them welcome the NFC South champions Carolina Panthers. Last season, they lost their home opener to the Panthers 20-14 and then they lost 19-17 on the road in week 15 NFL betting, a time when the Panthers perked up and raced down the stretch into the playoffs. Look for the Bucs to continue to struggle against Cam Newton and Co.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 1-3

Week 5: vs. Jacksonville (home), Sunday, Oct 11 at 1 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars went 0-8 on the road last season. Second-year quarterback Blake Bortles will have more experience this time around and that could make this an evenly matched contest between two sides that are still rebuilding. One expects the Bucs to come through as the home team, but don't be surprised if the Jaguars upset the Bucs. Call us crazy, but we're going with the road team here.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 1-4

Week 6: BYE

Week 7: vs. Washington (road), Sunday Oct 25 at 1 PM
After a week 6 bye, the Bucs descend on the nation's capital to take on the Washington Redskins. The Bucs may be in rebuild mode but the Redskins are a mess. This is one of those games that could go against the grain. Last year, the Bucs beat the Redskins 27-7 in Washington, one of their two wins on the season.

NFL Picks: Win
Record 2-4

Week 8: vs. Atlanta (road), Sunday, Nov 1 at 1 PM
The Atlanta Falcons swept the series last year with the Bucs, winning 56-14 in Atlanta and then 27-17 in Tampa Bay. The first meeting marked a new nadir for the Bucs in 2014, one they'd dearly love to erase with a strong showing this time. It's hard to predict such an outcome on the road. The Falcons have too many offensive weapons that once they get underway can be potent.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 2-5

Week 9: vs. NY Giants (home), Sunday, Nov 8 at 4:05 PM
The New York Giants were extremely disappointing last season and if they play anywhere near as bad as they did last year, this could be one of those inexplicable losses Eli Manning and the Giants enjoy (case-and-point their loss to the Jaguars last term). That said many are expecting a bounce back season for the Giants. This is the start of a tough stretch for the Bucs and it could very well begin with a home loss to the Giants.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 2-6

Week 10: vs. Dallas (home), Sunday, Nov 15 at 1 PM
Tony Romo and the Cowboys ride into town in broad daylight and hijack the straightforward win. Go on, do you see any other outcome? The Dallas Cowboys were the best road team last season. Although they might not be as flawless, this is one they'll surely circle as a game that is theirs to win or lose.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 2-7

Week 11: vs. Philadelphia (road), Sunday, Nov 22 at 1 PM
Chip Kelly and his high-octane, free-flowing offense welcome the Buccaneers in week 11 NFL betting. Mid-November the weather starts to become an issue for the Florida natives and should factor in the outcome. The Philadelphia Eagles should soar to the easy victory.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 2-8

Week 12: vs. Indianapolis (road), Sunday, Nov 29 at 1 PM
Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts figure to be an impossible task to conquer at Lucas Oil Stadium. Is there any point in debating the ins and outs of this one? Luck has lightweights for breakfast.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 2-9

Week 13: vs. Atlanta (home), Sunday, Dec 6 at 1 PM
The Buccaneers take on divisional rivals Atlanta Falcons in week 13 NFL betting, a game that is going to be all about revenge. Revenge for last year's humiliation as well as New Bucs offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter getting his own back against his old team. The Bucs could squeeze out the home win here.

NFL Picks; Win
Record 3-9

Week 14: vs. New Orleans (home), Sunday, Dec 13 at 1 PM
Drew Brees and the Saints come calling in week 14 NFL betting. If the Saints are going to be beaten, it's more likely to happen on the road than at the Superdome. On paper, the Saints are the better team offensively and should win this game. But the Bucs defense could give Drew Brees some fits, especially if they take a page from the earlier meeting in the season. Last year, the Bucs lost both games to the Saints by a handful of points. The prognosis for a home win over the Saints looks favorable.

NFL Picks: Win
Record 4-9

Week 15: vs. St. Louis (road), Thursday, Dec 17 at 8:25 PM
Primetime TV. A road trip to St. Louis to face a tough defense and newly minted quarterback Nick Foles could be a tough ask for the developing Bucs. What's more, if Jameis Winston starts here, it'll be his first taste of late night football. That's pressure.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 4-10

Week 16: vs. Chicago (home), Sunday, Dec 27 at 1 PM
Two respected coaches at the helm of rebuilding outfits feature in the clash between the Bears and Bucs in week 16 NFL betting. The added twist to this game is the fact Lovie Smith welcomes his old franchise to Tampa Bay and he'd dearly love to get some revenge. Jay Cutler isn't the most reliable quarterback and he's good for a few duds in the season: losses to teams he should be beating. But with the solid coaching of John Fox and an adequate supporting cast, the Bears could carve out the win in Tampa Bay.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 4-11

Week 17: vs. Carolina (road), Sunday, Jan 3 at 1 PM
In most NFL scenarios, this could be a big game for the Carolina Panthers, the defending NFC South champions, as they look to defend their NFC South crown in 2015. The Bucs are a beatable side and the Panthers, who swept the series last year, will be looking to replicate that form. Cam Newton is the tried and tested quarterback, so if it's money were putting down on our NFL picks, guess where we'd put it.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 4-12

NFL Betting Verdict: By our game-by-game predictions we have the Bucs finishing a lowly 4-12 on the season in 2015. On the bright side, it's two wins more than they had in 2015. Granted there are a couple of games that could swing their way that would see their season win total swing to 6-10 at best. Going higher than that would be an overzealous prediction in our opinion with a team that is essentially in the early building phases. As such, our recommended NFL pick is to take the UNDER 6 at -125 at Bovada. It's the sensible option.
