Last week the NFL odds makers were not kind to our fearless handicapper as he went 1-3 ATS in his early and late plays but it’s a brand new week full of opportunities to cash in our NFL picks.

2015 NFL Record (10-10 ATS)
Last week two totals flamed while the Raiders were nipped at the wire against the Broncos getting 5 ½ but it wasn’t enough as Denver prevailed 16-10. Now that’s a kick in the cajones people. However, the Packers continue to prove they are a veritable ATM by covering their fifth game in five tries with a 24-10 victory over the Rams as 8 ½ point favorites and was our lone winner in our Week 5 NFL picks. With my season record standing at 10-10 ATS it’s time to sweep. Let’s go!

Chiefs vs. Vikings -4
The Chiefs lost one of the most feared rushers in the game in Jamaal Charles while the Vikings have had two weeks to rest and prepare. Which team do you think I’m favoring? Kansas City crumbled after Charles went down with a season-ending injury losing 18-17 to a Bears team that rallied furiously to notch a win in Arrowhead. Chicago is not the kind of team that rallies but they did just that against a lackluster effort by the Chiefs’ defense. Alex Smith is a game manager and not a game changer so the emphasis on the air attack will not bode well for a team that utilizes a superior runner to set up the dinks-and-dunks passing that KC uses to move the chains.

This game will be all Minnesota and quite frankly I am surprised that the NFL odds currently favor the Vikings by only four points. The Chiefs are tied for 14th in points scored but that was before Charles went down. They are ranked 29th in points allowed while preparing to face the most devastating rusher in the league  in Adrian Peterson. Minnesota ranks 6th in points allowed which means that Alex Smith, owner of the 21st ranked passing attack, will try to go it alone against this vaunted defense and in hostile territory opposed by a team that has had two weeks to prepare. Checks these stats out:

Vikings are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games.

Vikings are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Vikings are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a home favorite.

Chiefs are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games as a road underdog of 3 ½ -10.0.

Total (44 ½) – Cardinals vs. Steelers
We know that both teams can light up the scoreboard with Pittsburgh averaging 24 PPG (11th) and the Cardinals owning the top scoring offense in the league averaging 38 PPG. Defensively the Cardinals rank 5th while the Steelers rank 7th in points allowed but who have they played that posed an offensive threat? The Steelers have their lofty ranking thanks to playing the inept offenses of St. Louis and San Francisco while I would submit Arizona has played a slate full of early season games against generally weak offenses.

The Steel City will see plenty of points here with Carson Palmer throwing darts all over the field while Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown combine for one of the most dynamic ground and air threats in the league this season. Go high in this one and cash in your NFL picks this Sunday.

The Woodman’s Corner (3-2 ATS)
The Woodman connected on his best bet last week as the Cardinals swooped into Motown and absolutely blasted those toothless Lions by the score of 42-17. With an eye towards keeping the good times rolling the Woodman has isolated another lock-line winner in his NFL picks by declaring that the Carolina Panthers have what it takes to cover the number against the disappointing Seahawks.
