The 49ers are favored by 2.5 points at a lot of sportsbooks, with the O/U in the range of 41.5 to 42.5. Both teams have been highly profitable – San Francisco is 8-4 SU and 9-3 ATS on the season and Seattle is 11-1 SU and 8-4 ATS.
You've got to be loving life if you're a Seahawks fan.
Practically everyone figured Seattle would be a top contender this season, but it's still remarkable to see them at 11-1 right now. The cherry on top was an outstanding performance in a 34-7 shellacking of New Orleans on Monday Night Football.
It couldn't have been a more impressive effort from top to bottom for Pete Carroll's team. The Saints were held to 188 total yards, while the Seahawks were able to rack up 429 total yards in the win.
Russell Wilson was fabulous, completing 22-of-30 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns – he added 47 yards on eight carries. On a night Marshawn Lynch (16 attempts for 45 yards) couldn't get much going, Wilson more than picked up the slack against Rob Ryan's defense. Zach Miller and Doug Baldwin were the top targets, combining for nine receptions, 163 yards and two scores.
The Seahawks have now won seven games in a row and have cashed the spread in three consecutive matchups. Will this the week the good times come to an end?
San Francisco 49ers
After consecutive losses to Carolina and New Orleans, the 49ers have come back to beat Washington (27-6 on the road) and St. Louis (23-13).
Over their past four home games, Jim Harbaugh's boys have beaten the Rams, Cardinals and Texans. Their one loss came to the surging Panthers (10-9), who are one of the hottest teams in the NFL at the moment.
Against the Rams, the 49ers covered as 7.5-point favorites in the NFL odds. Colin Kaepernick passed for 275 yards and a touchdown, while Frank Gore ran for 42 yards and a score. Anquan Boldin (nine catches for 98 yards) and Vernon Davis (four receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown) made plays and Michael Crabtree made his presence felt in his return, catching two balls for 68 yards.
Like Seattle, the 49ers have been on a nice winning run, but they've actually been even better than their division rivals in terms of ATS results. They've covered in three straight weeks and are 8-1 ATS over their last nine.
The winning has to continue for San Francisco. They're currently holding on to the last wildcard spot in the NFC, but Philadelphia and Arizona are both at 7-5 and within striking distance should the 49ers falter.
In September, the Seahawks crushed the 49ers at home, winning 29-3 and easily covering as three-point favorites.
We all know Seattle's home-field advantage is formidable, but they've been able to get the job done on the road as well.
Still, the 49ers are playing great football right now, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They've allowed only 19 total points over their last two games and we think they'll be able to keep Wilson and the gang at bay. So, let's add San Francisco to our NFL picks in Week 14.
Pick: San Francisco 49ers -2.5
