For those making NFL picks, they care about the outcome but also want to be entertained at the same time. This week's Thursday Night Confrontation between Seattle and Arizona could fit the bill.

Take a look at our NFL Week 7 Betting Odds Report and find an early edge in this week's games!

This is the third division matchup for Thursday Night Football and the previous two were not good games to watch. Let's see if we can get a bit of the best of both worlds this week.

Seattle a Little Off-track, Seeking to Get Back On

After beating up Jacksonville 45 -17 and standing with a 3-0 SU and ATS record, the Seahawks were the best team in the NFC. In their past three games, they have not been the same team in all three phases of the game.

The offense has sputtered because of injuries to the offensive line. The running game has not suffered, still ranked No. 2 at 157.7 yards a contest, but a lack of cohesion in the pass-blocking has inflated the rushing offense with quarterback Russell Wilson left to scamper for yards with his elusive footwork.

The secondary is supposed to be among the best in the league according to several NFL football handicappers, yet the last line of defense struggled against Matt Schaub and Andrew Luck and conceded more big plays than usual in those contests.

Even the special teams have not been oblivious with recent gaffes.

You do not have to be perfect in October, but coaches like Pete Carroll know what he has and wants to watch his club evolve and a division battle could be the right tonic to bring the various elements together.

Arizona Will Not Improve Without Committing Fewer Turnovers

The positive about the Cardinals offense was they gained a season-high 403 yards versus the vaunted San Francisco defense, on the road no less in their 32-20 setback to the 49ers. The negative was they gave the ball to the Niners four times (also a season-high) which took away any chance for an upset.

That took Arizona’s miscue total to 15, which led to head coach Bruce Arians to say this. “We’re not going to beat anybody on the road turning it over four times,” Arians said. “When we had the game in hand, going in to take the lead and [we] try to make too much out of something and we fumbled the football….. And you’re not going to beat anybody that way with self-inflicted wounds.”

The Cards are not going to be included with many sports picks unless they start taking better care of the pigskin.

Seattle was released as a 6.5-point favorite in the NFL odds and like former Seahawk Matt Flynn in the pocket, the number for now has remained stationary. In the past 20 years, the Seahawks are a fairly abysmal 4-8 SU and ATS in the desert.

The betting odds on the total have been quite the opposite, lowered two points to 40.5. In the previous dozen meetings in Tempe or Glendale, the total is 8-4 ‘Over’.

What to Watch For

Seattle will use a similar method to San Francisco and attempt to go “ground and pound” versus a weary Arizona defense on a short week. Seahawks offensive coaches might be smart to use multi-talented Russell Wilson on rollouts with a pass/run option to further deplete the legs of Cardinals defenders.

With Arizona doing a poor job of protecting the ball, Carroll will first try to send four defensive linemen after Carson Palmer to start with and if that does not succeed, he will resort to more blitzing.

The Cardinals offensive line has to afford Palmer more protection, to allow him to push the ball down the field to Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd. This tandem of receivers will be not be pushed around the Seattle corners.

While no simple task, Arizona has to force the Seahawks into third and longs; with the hope their talented cornerbacks can make plays.

Final Outcome

I’m backing history and for one of my NFL picks at SBR, I will play take the home underdog.
