We are just a few weeks from the start of training camps, and the NFL Odds for the Super Bowl are moving around even with little news to move them. However let’s check out the Niners’ updated odds, and see if any value is opening up.

Super Bowl (+650)
At Bet365 sportsbook, the 49ers are behind only the Seahawks in the NFL Future Odds to win the Super Bowl, however before the draft, both the Seahawksand Broncos were firmly ahead of the Niners. In the last six to eight weeks, most shops have now moved the Niners into contention with those two, and at Bet365, they are priced the same as Denver to win it all.

San Francisco has never been this hyped, not even the season they ended up getting to the Super Bowl. A lot of the hype is being generated around Colin Kaepernick, who has been talked up as a guy about to break out. He has depth at both skill positions, and he himself is heading into his third full season (fourth overall) after showing much promise in his first two full seasons starting.

NFC (+400)
Although I do think Kaepernick’s targets have improved now that it looks like Vernon Davis isn’t a threat to hold out, (adding to, of course, a healthy Michael Crabtree, a re-signed Aquan Boldin, and the addition of Stevie Johnson) I am worried about their running game just a little. These worries could be alleviated, however if Frank Gore and the multitude of backs behind him succeed this season, it will likely mean the difference between a Super Bowl and another season of losing in the NFC playoffs. If Gore is healthy, and Carlos Hyde and Marcus Lattimore prove to live up to their talent, this team could be the best in all of football.

On the other side of the football, while the Niners may not have a ton of depth, they do have a good group returning from last season on defense. Luckily for them Aldon Smith doesn’t seem like he’ll miss more than four games if he is suspended before the season starts. I could go on for hours on how it’s quite backwards that Smith’s wrap sheet only warrants discussion of a three to four game suspension, while Josh Gordon is going to be suspended for a year for smoking weed, however the outcome is good for the Niners regardless if Smith only misses a quarter of the season.

NFC West (+130)
The biggest problem for people wanting to have their NFL picks be on the Niners to win anything this season is that they almost surely will have to go through the Seahawks to do it. San Francisco is good enough to win the division this season, but one has to think it’s going to be a close race once again. Seattle did lose some players from their Super Bowl winning roster, however is it enough of a loss to warrant them being a wildcard team this season?

I mentioned the other day that I thought the Niners might beat out the Seahawks, but it’s going to take at least 12 wins to do it.
