Chip Kelly's NFL debut was as good as it gets. Can his Eagles make it two out of two with a win at home over San Diego?

Odds Overview

It's interesting to note how much the NFL betting lines differ for this game, depending on which sportsbook you're using.

For instance, the NFL odds favor the Eagles by seven points at a few books, like Bookmaker and bet365, but at others the line is as high as 9.5. Meanwhile, the total opened at 51.5 points and has quickly risen to about 54.5.

Follow along with our NFL Week 2 Odds Coverage.

San Diego Chargers

Things were going swimmingly for the Chargers through practically three quarters of their Monday Night Football matchup against Houston. They were up 28-7 at one point in the second half and looked like they were destined for a rather comfortable win.

However, everything started to fall apart late in the third, with Matt Schaub connecting with Garrett Graham for a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Owen Daniels had a touchdown, Brian Cushing returned an interception for a score, and then Randy Bullock kicked a 41-yarder as time expired.

What a way to lose.

There were a couple positives to take away from the loss, though. Philip Rivers looked much more comfortable out there and ended up with four touchdown passes, while getting sacked only twice.

Ryan Mathews had 55 total yards and a touchdown, while Eddie Royal and Vincent Brown also reached paydirt. But the offense stalled in the second half and San Diego's defense just couldn't find any answer either.

Philadelphia Eagles

Unlike the Chargers, the Eagles were able to preserve their early lead in their Monday night win in Washington.

At one point Philadelphia was up 33-7, but Robert Griffin III and the Redskins rallied to score 20 straight points, making things at least interesting in the closing stages. In the end Philadelphia had notched the 33-27 road victory.

Chip Kelly's high-tempo offense worked like a dream and had Washington on their heels throughout. Michael Vick looked in control, finishing 15-of-25 for 203 yards and two touchdown passes to go along with 54 rushing yards and an additional TD.

DeSean Jackson made numerous big plays, topped off by a 25-yard touchdown grab on a bullet thrown from Vick in the first quarter. The speedy wideout ended up with seven catches for 104 yards. Brent Celek had the other touchdown reception.

The running game was also clicking for Philadelphia. LeSean McCoy found numerous holes and totaled 31 carries for 184 yards and a TD. He'll enter Week 2 as the league's leading rusher.

NFL Pick

We got glimpses about what both of these teams will be about this season, but it's obviously still far too early to have a legitimate read on what kind of season San Diego and Philadelphia will have. Both franchises have new head coaches, but overall the early results are looking pretty good.

We expect a large chunk of the public to be all over the Eagles here in their home opener, fresh off a feel-good division win against the Redskins. The public will be clamoring over Kelly and company right now, especially since San Diego completely blew it on national television.

But, 9.5 points is just too many in our opinion. The Chargers did a lot of good things in Week 1 and have the talent on both sides of the ball to make life a little difficult for the home team. Rivers was moving the chains well and the onus will fall on him to keep his team in the ballgame.

So, for our NFL picks for Week 2, we will be recommending a play on San Diego at nearly double-digits in the odds.

Pick: Chargers +9.5
