NFL Picks: Public Getting Behind Cardinals & Packers in Week 15

They're the two most popular NFL picks of 2015, and both the Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers continue to bring in truckloads of public money for Week 15.

Jason's 2015 record as of Dec. 19: 48-45-2 ATS; 0-1 ML (-1.00 units); 25-32 Total

How good have the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers been this year? Good enough to keep their heads above chalk. The Cardinals (11-2 SU, 7-6 ATS) and Packers (9-4 SU, 8-5 ATS) are the top two teams on the public money charts for 2015, yet they both carry profitable records into Week 15 on the regular season. That's not easy to do. It might not even be sustainable.

Lo and behold, our consensus reports as of late Saturday afternoon show both Arizona and Green Bay drawing their usual action for Sunday. First up, the Packers have a West Coast start (4:05 p.m. ET, FOX) coming up against the Oakland Raiders, who are getting three points on our NFL odds board as we go to press. Green Bay is drawing nearly 70 percent of bettors and over 76 percent of the action for this game. Square pick, or sharp pick?

Well, we've already recommended the Packers for your Week 15 NFL picks, so we may be a bit biased here at the home office. And while there isn't the telltale “sharp” gap between Wagers Placed and Amount Wagered on our consensus reports, Green Bay has drawn four $1,000+ bets to zero for Oakland. Everyone together: Big money is sharp money. In theory.

So let's turn our attention to the Cardinals. We tried fading them in Week 13 as 7-point road favorites versus the St. Louis Rams, only to watch St. Louis generate almost zero offense in a 27-3 yawner. This week on Sunday Night Football (8:30 p.m. ET, NBC), Arizona is once again the road fave, laying three points or more to the enigmatic Philadelphia Eagles (6-7 SU and ATS). Our surveys show 68 percent on bettors on 'Zona with 65 percent of the money. Square pick, or sharp pick?

This one's a little tougher. But take a gander at the Lines History for this matchup: At press time, the Eagles have moved to +3.5 (–110) after peaking at +3.5 (–125) on Wednesday. Our spies at Unnamed Internet Search Engine tell us at least some of this action is sharp money on Philadelphia. The Eagles are 2-0 SU and ATS with Sam Bradford returning to active duty at quarterback. They even beat the New England Patriots 35-28 as 9-point road dogs.

As for the Cardinals, they barely hung on to beat the Minnesota Vikings (+10 away) 23-20 last week to “fall” to 4-0 SU and 1-3 ATS in their last four games. Conditions will be a lot different Sunday night; the forecast calls for clear skies and temperatures just above the freezing mark. It's not Armaggedon by any means, but with the spread going over the magic number three, it's enough to encourage a small bet on Philly.
