Tom Brady is back with the Patriots and this season has had it's ups and downs just like Cam Newton. Also, respective teams haven't lived up to expectations. Let's take a look at a couple of matchups in which there's a decisive edge with our NFL Picks of the Day for Week 5.

New York Giants vs. Green Bay PackersCan "ODB" Play Like an MVP?

The New York Giants (2-2) have the unenviable task of playing at Lambeau Field on national television and against one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Aaron Rodgers. The Giants come into this game on a 2 game winning streak and some players aren't happy with their role on this team and also their actual play on the field; namely Odell Beckham Jr.

There's no doubt that Beckham Jr. has an amazing amount of talent, but he has the tendency to lose his cool and also has the mindset the game revolves around him. He's still a young player and the Giants don't want this to escalate into a major problem as they're going up against one of the best teams in the league in Green Bay (2-1) and in one of the most hostile places to play.

Surprisingly, wide receivers, Victor Cruz and rookie Sterling Shepard (263 yards, 2 TD) have been making the big plays while Beckham Jr. has failed to catch a touchdown pass yet this season. I look for Eli Manning, who has gotten off to a shaky start this season, to look to get Beckham involved early as the Giants run game leaves a lot to be desired. The Packers defense will be keying in on ODB and this will be one of the key matchups in the game as all eyes will be on this talented but disgruntled receiver.

Aaron Rodgers

While the Pack are 2-1, Aaron Rodgers has shown more vulnerability than in the past as his offensive line as has been average at best. Rodgers is getting older but he's one of the most intelligent quarterbacks on the field and that compensates for anything that he has to deal with. Eddie Lacy (214 yards) is never going to live up to his star billing from the University of Alabama and the Packers running game is somewhat suspect. This is a team that relies on the quick thinking of Rodgers and he's done the job, throwing 7 TD's and 1 INT.

Jordy Nelson (206 yards 4 TD's ) is Rodgers' favorite receiver and has come back very strong from injury. He has the big playmaking ability that cut put a dagger in the heart of all Giants fans. I look for Aaron Rodgers to have a somewhat easy time of it moving down the field with Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson as his go to receivers. The Giants looked awful in their last game against Minnesota and expect it to get worse.

Buffalo Bills vs. Los Angeles RamsRex Ryan's Job Looks To Be Secure

There have been talks about Rex Ryan losing his job, but after 2 consecutive wins for the Bills (2-2), his job appears to be safe at the moment. However, I would like to point out that the New England Patriots were playing with a 3rd string quarterback when Buffalo beat the Pats 16-0 at Foxborough last week and this might not be a great indication of how good the Buffalo Bills really are.

The Bills come into this game as a surprising betting favorite against a Los Angeles Rams team which has won 3 consecutive games after their season opening debacle against the San Francisco 49'ers on national television. If Los Angeles is to win this game against a tough Bills team, Todd Gurley has got to get on track as he's been a major disappointment this season.

NFL Rookie of the Year?

Gurley might have been effective in his rookie season midway through the season as he came back from an injury, but running back, Todd Gurley, has had a rough go of it against opposing defenses in L.A.'s first 4 games.

Gurley has amassed 216 yards and 2 TD's rushing on just 2.6 yards per carry. This simply won't cut it and his counterpart, LeSean McCoy has been very effective this season. This is a huge game for Todd Gurley as quarterback, Case Keenum, simply isn't good enough to pass for most of the game and against a tough defense. Look for Gurley to show improvement in this game.

Tyrod Taylor?

I'm just not high on this quarterback and he also has a receiving core that's below average. Buffalo's chances of winning this game depend's on the running of LeSean McCoy and their defense. Thus far, McCoy has played well this season, running for almost 300 yards and 2 TD's and also catching 17 passes and scoring a receiving touchdown. Look for this game to be a defensive battle and the matchup at running back could decide the outcome of this game.

We're going to have to side with Buffalo for my NFL week 5 picks until Todd Gurley proves that he can be effective. Los Angeles isn't as good as their 3-1 record indicates.
