NFL Picks: Raiders vs. Broncos Opening Odds Report

The Raiders can win because…

They are in position to play their best game after a week in which they left a lot of points on the table and were far from their best. People who make their sports picks – in football and any other sport – realize that you’re just not going to be at your very best each week in a long season. Human beings are not robots. They are emotional creatures and are not going to get out of bed the same way on each and every game day. Moreover, you only need to beat the team you’re playing – not anyone else. The Raiders didn’t need to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars with a top-notch performance in Week 2. The Raiders did indeed look ugly and sloppy for 60 minutes against the Jaguars but they didn’t need to be great to cover on the NFL odds and win. A solid defensive performance and just enough offense were sufficient for the Silver and Black on that day. The Raiders looked bored and less than fully engaged, which is only human nature against a team as bad as the Jaguars.

Now, the Raiders will play a game that will get their juices flowing and their emotions revved up to a fever pitch. This is a game NFL player’s dream of competing in. The Monday night spotlight will shine brightly on them. The rest of the NFL will be watching this game, and players don’t want to mess up when they’re thrust into this kind of situation. Oakland might also be facing the best team in the NFL, with one of the great quarterbacks of this generation, Peyton Manning. The Raiders are going to be much better than last week, and if that happens, they’ll be right there with a chance to win in the fourth quarter.

NFL Picks: Raiders vs. Broncos Betting the Spread

The Broncos can win because…

Their offense is simply not going to score fewer than 24 to 27 points, and against the Raiders, that means a likely victory. Oakland’s offense, with an unproven Terrelle Pryor under center, can be as motivated as it wants to. Yet, no level of motivation or inspiration is going to make Pryor a polished passer in a short period of time. Pryor can run well, but at some point, he will have to beat the Broncos from the pocket, and it’s just not a probable scenario in this contest.

Meanwhile, Peyton Manning and his teammates are in such a groove. Two games with more than 40 points? That’s an impressive feat at any stage of a football season, but especially in September, when so many offenses need time to get into a groove. Denver’s ability to hit a high gear so early in the season is an indication of how good this offense really is. Even if Oakland plays well on defense, Denver is going to score in the mid-20s, which should be enough to outscore Pryor. In all probability, Denver will wind up with around 34 or 35 points, which will turn this game into the blowout many people expect it to become.

Outlook & NFL Football Betting Prediction:

The Broncos simply punch in a different weight class compared to the Raiders. The quarterback matchup is a mismatch and in a quarterback’s league, that matters a great deal. Denver should be able to cover the big number at home. Take them with your NFL picks in this spot.
