Each day until the start of the 2015 NFL season, LT Profits will provide a team profile that can be referred to when making NFL picks. Today they look at the Oakland Raiders.

The 2015 NFL season is set to kick off Thursday night, September 10th, but before we get to Kickoff Weekend, we will be here presenting daily team profiles in an attempt to assist you with your NFL picks. Today we are profiling the Oakland Raiders, who finished 3-13 in 2014 and in fourth place in the AFC West.

Let us begin with a summary of the Oakland betting statistics over the past five seasons. Please note that all of these statistics are for regular season games only.

Oakland Raiders Betting Stats, 2010 through 2014

   Home  Away  Overall
ATS Overall  16-23-1    21-18-1  37-41-2
ATS Favorite  6-8  0-1  6-9
ATS Underdog  10-14-1  21-17-1    31-31-2
Avg. Margin  -4.4  -8.6  -6.5
Over – Under  22-17-1  22-18  44-35-1
Avg. Total Score    48.6  46.0  47.3

The Raiders have been one of the worst teams in the NFL for several years and they have been especially bad bets at home cashing at just a 41.0 percent ATS rate. Surprisingly, Oakland has actually gone 21-18-1 ATS on the road the last five years, although at 53.8 percent that is still just negligibly profitable. The Raiders have been good ‘over’ bets with it going 55.7 percent overall including 56.5 percent at home.
Key Trend: Oakland is 6-19-1, 24.0 percent ATS as an underdog when coming off of an ATS win.

Next we take a look at the Raiders’ statistical summary for the 2014 season.

2014 Oakland Raiders Team Statistics (Per Game)

Offense    Off. Rank   Defense    Def. Rank
Points  15.8  31st  28.2  32nd
Rushing  77.2  32nd  119.4  22nd

Total Yards  282.2  32nd  357.6  20th
Yds. Per Play  4.7  32nd  5.6  17th

The Raiders finished second to last in the NFL in points scored in 2014 and dead last points against, so is it any wonder they finished in last place at 3-13? Oakland fired former coach Dennis Allen after an 0-4 start, replacing him with Tony Sparano, and they finally snapped a 16-game losing streak spanning two seasons by beating the Kansas City Chiefs 24-20 in Week 12.

Now we take a peek at various Oakland Future Odds for this 2015 season from several sportsbooks. You can view these and other future and prop odds on the Sportsbook Review Futures and Prop Bets Directory.

So, has Bovada taken a lot of money on the Raiders this off-season? Take note of how much lower the Oakland odds are there compared to other sportsbooks, and they are the only book juicing the ‘over’ on the low 5½ win-total.

Oakland Raiders Key Additions
Some veteran additions to help the offense include running back Roy Helu and wide receiver Michael Crabtree, while quarterback Christian Ponder and running back Trent Richardson could also be helpful in backup roles. The biggest addition though came via the draft in wide receiver Amari Cooper, and Oakland also drafted a tight end in the third round in Clive Walford that could see a lot of playing time.

Oakland Raiders Key Losses
The Raiders suffered a big loss off the field in offensive coordinator Greg Olson, as having young Derek Carr learn a new system in his second season is probably not a good thing. Losses on the field included backup quarterback Matt Schaub, running backs Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew and wide receivers James Jones and Denarius Moore.
