Week 2 Touchdown scorers
The first guy has to be Ahmad Bradshaw for the Colts. Indy plays the Dolphins at home this week, and while it isn’t the greatest matchup in the entire world, the Colts just got word that Vick Ballard will be out for the season after tearing his ACL late in the week’s practice. This means that Bradshaw moves up to the lead back duties, and with only first-round bust, Donald Brown behind him, it looks as if Bradshaw could get plenty of work in this game if he is ready for it. If Bradshaw can stay healthy, he should have a wide role in this dynamic and potent offense. Plus, the price of +125 in the NFL odds is too good to pass up for this game. Bradshaw could find himself inside the end zone this week, and with no real competition, I think the price is right.
NFL Pick: Ahmad Bradshaw (+125)
Don't forget about NFL Sunday Week 2 Best Value Picks!
The second guy I’m taking a gander at is someone not many people are looking at this week, and that’s New Orleans scat-back, Darren Sproles. Sproles plays the Bucs on the road this week, and while Tampa’s defense is very good, Sproles has performed very well against them over the past two seasons. In his last four games against the Bucs, he has averaged over 5 receptions per game, and he has three touchdowns in those four games. Apparently the sportsbooks realize that as well, because Sproles is priced the same as a straight bet for this prop, and if he finds the end zone against Tampa, it will net a cash of -110 for NFL betting aficionados. I don’t see Tampa’s defense as that imposing, and with Sproles’ unique talent, I think he could pop off a nice TD run or catch in this game. Sproles being a duel threat makes this prop even more valuable, and even though it is a small reach, I think it will payoff by this afternoon.
NFL Pick: Darren Sproles (-110)
While I wasn’t too successful in my player performance props last week, I finished off Week 1 with a nice cash on Desean Jackson’s performance on Monday; so let’s see if my streak of one will carry over into Week 2. Bet365 doesn’t have as many player performance props this week, but they do have one I’m particularly excited about, and that’s Vernon Davis’ receiving yards total of 56.5. With Brandon Browner missing the game again for the Seahawks, the 49ers’ passing game will be that much harder for stop for Seattle, and I think Davis and Anquan Boldin will have another standout day. I also think this could be a higher scoring game. Neither team should be able to run the ball effectively, but both are beatable through the air. For my sports picks, I could see Davis getting 10 or more targets in this game, and he should be able to turn those 10 targets into 57 or more yards receiving.
NFL Pick: Vernon Davis ‘Over’ 56.5 receiving yards (-130)Share your thoughts on Week 2 of the NFL regular season on SBRForum's football message boards!
