The Jets had another disappointing season in 2012, and now the 2013 season is a do or die year for Rex Ryan and most of the employees of Woody Johnson.

New York Jets divisional future odds update

The Jets are big underdogs in the AFC East divisional future odds this offseason. At LVH Sportsbook in Las Vegas, the Jets are +2500 to win the AFC East, which is far behind the Bills even who sit at +1000.

If you recall, that’s not far from their odds to win the AFC itself from Bet365, who had the Jets as +3300 in the NFL Odds to win the conference. Needless to say, not many people are buying the Jets this season, and I’m right there with them. The Jets were 7-9 ATS last season, and were losers ATS in almost every instance with the exception of the two times they were favored on the road in 2012, when they went 2-0 ATS.

With all that is swirling around New York right now, there is definitely no NFL future odds value with the Jets this offseason. LVH Sportsbook is almost laughing at them with the odds they have to win the division, and so are most other shops around the world. We could be seeing an implosion this season.

There aren’t many times I say this, but I can’t see any method of extracting value from the Jets this offseason or in the season itself. At this point in the summer (things can change of course) I am struggling to find any of the smallest of opportunities.

Mike Goodson, who they signed to replace Shon Greene after his departure, just got arrested a few days ago, after he was found stopped in the center lane of the interstate at 3 AM. He wasn’t driving the vehicle, however he was charged with possession of the firearm and the small amount of weed he had on him.

However unjust some of you may think the situation is, he still is going to face some sort of suspension over this when it’s all said and done, and with little to no other help at the running back position, this could doom the Jets’ first few games on offense if indeed a suspension is warranted due to a conviction in the court of law.

All in all, I do like some of the defensive upgrades that have been made to this roster. However, other than the under possibly being of some value in 2013, I don’t see any ATS value coming off the Jets this season for our sports picks. The Jets were also 9-7 cashing the under last season, and I expect we could see some more of that in the coming season. New York just doesn’t have the assets to consistently move the ball down the field in quick fashion, but their defense should be at the very least average this season if not better. Besides taking the under in the right spot, we have to sell very fast on the Jets for the upcoming season.
