This matchup between the San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos could very well be a preview of this season’s Super Bowl! Let's dive right into our NFL picks for the game.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos
This is a matchup that could well be a preview of this season’s Super Bowl!  In Week 7, the NFL has clearly saved the Marquee Matchup of the Week for Sunday Night Football, Primetime on NBC. Whether you are ahead or behind for the weekend or day, every football fan in the nation will be tuning into watch QB Peyton Manning lead his home team Broncos against the defensively stout 49ers with the superior ground attack.

In reality, this SNF Marquee Matchup may well be more fun to watch than to wager upon!  The Broncos enter at 4-1 SU off consecutive wins, including a 31-17 win at the Jets last weekend.  In that game, Denver outrushed the NYers 138-31, while allowing the Jets just 204 total yards.  Now, they return to the strong home field, where Manning is 13-6 ATS in the regular season and where the Broncos are 9-1 ATS as a non-divisional home favorite.  Aside from the quality passing game led by QB Manning, the major improvement in the Broncos this season is a defensive front that has allowed just 77/3.3.

Unfortunately for the Broncos, the 49ers have similar numbers on defense with 77/3.8. San Francisco is allowing opponents to run the ball only 20 times per game, a key “Run to the Bank” indicator of long-term pointspread success. The 49ers also have a successful running game, averaging 32/136/4.2. They are one of 6 teams who average 31 or more carries per game. Those teams have a combined record of 19-9 ATS.  Balancing out the strong home field technicals of the Broncos are San Fran numbers which see them entering this contest at 13-4 SU ATS vs. non-con foes, covering the last 4 times in that role.  In addition, under HC Harbaugh, the 49ers are 8-4 ATS as underdog.  This is their first, and only 1 of 2, times in that role this season.  Certainly not a positive that the 49ers are off a come from behind MNF Divisional win over St. Louis (31-17).  But, the 49ers have their own momentum of a 3 game winning streak.

For your NFL picks its worth noting that the pedigree of an underdog and running indicators suggest they are capable of winning this game outright.

OVER/UNDER players will note that Thursday, Sunday and Monday Night Primetime games are now 16-4 to the OVER this year!
