Will Green Bay return to dominance this season, or will they be struggling to win the division like last season?

The Packers may be one of the more undervalued teams in the NFL this season, but with a tough schedule, and playing in a tough division, does Green Bay have enough to make their way back to the NFC Title game in this nasty conference? LVH Sportsbook in Las Vegas has the Packers handicapped to 10 wins this season, with the ‘Over’ being priced in at -120, and the ‘Under’ coming in at an even +100.

Green Bay has the 6th ranked strength of schedule in the NFL this season, and with an early Week 1 trip to San Francisco, it isn’t likely they start the season with that big of a road win. Crazier things have been done, but the Packers have a tough climb this season. They also play the Bengals on the road in Week 3, so this team better be ready to come out swinging.

The middle eight or nine games are where the Packers are going to make their money. The easier part of their schedule is sandwiched in between seven or eight tough games, and if they don’t make a run between Weeks 5 and 13, they are in trouble. During that stretch they play the Lions and Vikings twice, and they play the Bears, Eagles and Browns at home. If the Packers take care of business this season, I think ten or more wins is surely a possibility.

How do the Packers' odds rank against the rest of the NFC North this season?

Week 1

The Packers could get a big boost to their season win total if they are able to go in and upset the 49ers on their home field. The NFL Odds for this one favor the Niners by -5.5, with a total of exactly 50 points. With the loss of Michael Crabtree for the Niners, I think that will seriously put a damper on the vertical game of San Francisco. If Aaron Rodgers and company can jump out to an early lead, the 49ers will be hard pressed to make a comeback unless they can sign a solid X receiver between now and September. I don’t think Aquan Boldin has what it takes to lead the 49ers in receiving yards. He has basically been a slot receiver for the last two seasons.

The Sharp Pick

In the end however, I think the Packers get to ten or more wins this season. 11 is going to be tough, but I don’t see them finishing with less than 10 wins. At -120, the ‘Over’ is a bit chalky, but the Packers are one of my sleeper teams this season in the NFC, and I see them coming out and showing people that they still have plenty of talent to win another Super Bowl. Even if they start the season 1-2 SU, they could easily finish the season going 10-3 SU to cash the ‘Over’ in this particular wager. I’ll put my money and NFL pick in Aaron Rodgers’ hands any day.

My Pick: ‘Over’ 10 -120

Week 1 Lean: Packers +5.5 at BET 365
