NFL Picks – Good bets on bad teams
by Nila Amerova

Week 10 NFL betting is underway and before us is an embarrassment of choice games to spot, many of which offering great value.

We had another standout week picking good bets on bad teams in Week 9 NFL betting, getting all our NFL free picks right on the money. So let’s try to maintain our winning record in this week’s instalment.

Bengals -2.5 @ Ravens +2.5

Cincinnati Bengals (6-3, 2-3 away) enter the game with Baltimore Ravens (3-5, 2-1 home) as the favourites to win straight up at -120. Who would have thought to see such NFL odds at the start of the season with the Ravens embarking on their Super Bowl defence campaign? That the Ravens have been awful is the understatement of the season. Top to bottom, criticism sees no end beginning with Flacco, who has been is abysmal so far. To Rice, who has been ineffective...and so on. They have now lost three games in a row and their backs are against the wall so it’s understandable that odds makers have little faith in them in NFL week 10 betting. That said, Ravens have only one loss at home this season. A win here could see them get back on track.

NFL Betting Verdict

Certainly, Bengals who are having a better season appear to be the better bet but we’re going on a limb here and taking the Ravens to win at home at +100 for our NFL picks. Call it a case when the price is good.

Lions -1.0 @ Bears +1.0

Analysis: Much is being made of Jay Cutlers return to action this week, especially at the expense of the Bears. Granted Cutler will make a difference but what about Josh McCown? He carried the Bears to a big win over Packers on the road last week. Sure, Aaron Rodgers was injured and sidelined early in the game but let’s not take anything away from McCown. To do what he did in Green Bay is no mean feat. McCown has had two solid efforts already – he was great against Washington even though they lost and held his own against the Packers. He is somebody the Lions will have to be wary of when they descend on Chicago. The more we see of Josh McCown the more we like him and as such we like the Bears to cover.

Raiders +7.0 @ Giants -7.0

Two struggling outfits in Raiders (3-5, 0-3 away) and Giants (2-6, 1-2 hom3) collide in Week 10 NFL betting yet curiously odds makers have them delicately nestled on a seven-point spread. Is this spread too high for two rather bad teams overall? Surely, there can’t be such a big difference between them? Or is there? Giants are enjoying a two-game winning streak, which includes a 15-7 win over Eagles before the bye week. They’ll be looking to extend that winning form at the expense of a Raiders outfit that just had their tails whooped at home 49-20, ironically, by the Eagles. Maybe this spread is appropriate after all.

NFL Betting Verdict

While the Giants have only won two games this season and nobody believes in them much, odds makers certainly do listing them as the whopping -330 NFL odds to win straight up and so do we. Take the Giants to win straight up and cover.
