The Atlanta Falcons finally ended their ugly three-game winning streak by outlasting the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend.

Are they actually OK now or was that merely an opportunity to take advantage of a team that’s in worse shape than themselves?

Atlanta Falcons @ Arizona Cardinals

Odds: Cardinals -1

The Falcons can win because…

They finally got back on track and reinforcements are coming. Last week, the Falcons beat the Bucs. People who make their NFL picks know that beating the Bucs isn’t anything to brag about but the Falcons got the job done. Now it looks like running back Steven Jackson is getting closer to returning to the lineup and that will give them boost as they visit Arizona.

The Cardinals are a fairly bad team. Handicappers have made some money on them with their sports picks this season as the Cards have three wins but realistically, this just isn’t a good team. They can’t run the ball, they can’t protect quarterback Carson Palmer, he’s turning it over more than any quarterback in the NFL not named Eli Manning, and the defense just save them.

Atlanta isn’t great but having the better quarterback might be the only difference they really need in this one.

The Cardinals can win because…

Atlanta is still broken. Just because they beat the Bucs last week doesn’t mean that everything is fine. Keep in mind that the Bucs – who were starting a rookie quarterback and their best offensive weapon (running back Doug Martin) mid-game – managed to score a season-high 23 points. Everyone has been scoring on the Falcons as they haven’t allowed less than 23 in any game this season (allowing 24 points per game).

The Cards main weaknesses are that they can’t protect Palmer and therefore, can’t move the ball enough to score. The good news is that the Falcons are 25th in sacks and 20th in total defense. They have just five takeaways on the season, which is the fewest in the NFC.

Sure, Arizona has struggled on offense but everyone has gotten healthy facing the Falcons defense. The Cards will too.

Outlook & NFL Football Betting Prediction:

The Falcons got a win last week but it doesn’t mean the train is back on the tracks. Jackson is questionable and Roddy White still isn’t a full go. Unless both of them play, they are going to have a tough time in Arizona this weekend.

Be sure to thoroughly examine the Week 8 NFL Odds Report~

The Cards are 2-1 at home this season and have quality wins over Carolina and Detroit. Plus, they’ll have 10 days to prepare for this contest after playing last Thursday. Meanwhile, Atlanta is just 2-4 but they’ve only played two road games so far (losses in both New Orleans and Miami). Because of that, the Falcons might even be worse than we thought.

Take the Cards on the NFL odds. They should be capable of getting the job done. They’ll be fresher, they’ll be healthier and they’ll be at home.
