The Philadelphia Eagles know that Chip Kelly will be their coach in 2016. However, there’s a lot of dissatisfaction & grumbling in Philadelphia as they face the Patriots. Check our NFL pick inside.

Momentum
The Eagles are in a state of freefall. The defense has caved in, giving up huge point totals to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions two times last week. Nothing is going right for a team which has steadily fallen off the pace in the NFC East due to a number of different causes. Quarterback Sam Bradford continued his tortured and luckless NFL career by suffering yet another injury in the previous weeks. His inability to stay on the field makes him a liability as an NFL quarterback. There is some bad luck involved, but players have to have the ability to either play through pain or do other things which shield them from repeated injuries. While Philadelphia struggles on offense, though, the defense has been a disaster. No real push or pass rush up front is leading to a domino effect in which opposing offenses are doing pretty much whatever they want with impunity. That has to stop if the Eagles are going to bounce back.

The Patriots lost a 21-7 lead and the game to the Denver Broncos last Sunday, their first loss of the season. What was worse is that tight end Rob Gronkowski got injured in the second half of that game. The Patriots’ injuries at the wide receiver positions have been well documented, so they know they can’t afford more injuries to Tom Brady’s top targets. Someone has to be available to throw the ball to.

Line Moves
The NFL odds started with the Patriots being installed as a 10-point favorite and that line has remained in place, although you can find some 10.5 and 9.5 numbers. The betting public sees the Eagles’ ineptitude and the injuries to New England’s offense and can’t make up its mind.

Notable Injuries
The Eagles have defensive back Jerome Couplin listed on injured reserve. So is linebacker Jordan Hicks. So are cornerback Nolan Carroll, Jr., tackle Andrew Gardner, kicker Cody Parkey, and center David Molk. Running back Ryan Matthews is doubtful for this game with a concussion. Tight end Zach Ertz is questionable with a concussion. Wide receiver Josh Huff is questionable with a concussion. Quarterback Sam Bradford is questionable with a concussion. Tackle Jason Peters is probable with a leg injury.

For the Patriots, the main injury news is that tight end Rob Gronkowski will miss this game with a knee injury. Linebacker Dont’a Hightower is doubtful with a knee injury. Linebacker Jamie Collins is questionable with an illness. Wide receiver Danny Amendola is questionable with a knee injury. Cornerback Justin Coleman is questionable with a hand injury.

Running back Dion Lewis is on injured reserve. So is center Ryan Wendell. So are cornerback Tarell Brown, tackle Nate Solder, wide receiver Julian Edelman, wide receiver Aaron Dobson, tight end Rufus Johnson, and fullback James Develin.

Handicapping The Game
The fact that the Eagles are in such disarray should overwhelm the Patriots’ injury concerns. New England should be able to win this game comfortably over a bad, very bad, Philadelphia team. Take the Patriots with your NFL picks.
