The Oakland Raiders host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. Find out where our handicappers have decided to place their money!

The Oakland Raiders held on against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, cashing in a 21-18 victory as 2 ½-point home dogs. Sunday’s NFL odds have Dennis Allen’s squad remaining at Coliseum, with the Philadelphia Eagles heading west.

Raiders, Pryor top Steelers

Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor dashed for an early 93-yard touchdown in last Sunday’s win, with mate Darren McFadden later taking in a pair of scores from inside the red zone. McFadden finished with 73 rushing yards on 24 carries, while adding a pair of short catches.

Oakland’s Sio Moore came away with two of his squad’s five sacks, while cornerbacks Tracy Porter and Mike Jenkins each grabbed one interception. The Raiders’ defense held Pittsburgh to 276 total yards, with a sparse 35 coming on the ground (1.8 YPR).

The contest’s combined 39 points ducked below the closing ‘total’ of 40, cashing UNDER tickets for my followers. Pryor and Co. logged three turnovers, while punter Marquette King averaged 46.5 YPP in eight appearances.

Eagles fall as home ‘chalk’

Philadelphia picked up a second straight loss on the same afternoon, dropping a 15-7 battle to the New York Giants. The Eagles failed to cash as 5 ½-point home favorites, held scoreless until the duel’s final four minutes.

Philadelphia’s Michael Vick departed early due to a hamstring injury, with backup Matt Barkley connecting 17-of-26 passes for 158 yards. Eagles wide out DeSean Jackson logged a team-high eight receptions, while running back LeSean McCoy was held to 48 rushing yards (3.2 YPR).

Eagles linebacker Najee Goode returned a late fumble for his side’s sole touchdown, while mates Mychal Kendricks and Bradley Fletcher united for 19 tackles. The matchup’s 22 points plunged UNDER the ‘total’of 49, with Philadelphia giving up four sacks in 21 minutes of possession.

Back the UNDER in Oakland

Bet365 opened Oakland as a 2 ½-point home favorite, with an initial minus 120 lean added to the ‘chalk.’  The ‘total’ was first set at 44 ½, rising north a ‘hook’ to 45 after early OVER betting.

I am adding the UNDER here to Sunday’s NFL picks, looking for more low octane this week.

Oakland continues to hold visiting foes to sparse numbers, giving up 17 PPG in its four home dates. The Raiders have grinded the clock with their running game, while ranking last in the league for passing (176 YPG).

Philadelphia expects to start Nick Foles at quarterback, who last saw action in the Eagles’ 17-3 defeat on Oct. 20 against the Dallas Cowboys. The 24-year-old finished with a lowly passer rating of 46.2, finishing with a subpar 11-for-29 day in completions.

Both squads rank in the league’s top ten defenses against the run, each allowing below 100 YPG. Oakland has converted a meager 34-of-97 third-down conversions, while then left to put foes deep with a league high 48.9 YPP on punts.

The UNDER is 7-1 in Oakland’s last eight contests against clubs with losing records, while the wager rides an 8-0 streak in the team’s most recent home affairs. Look for UNDER backers to collect again here, with both sides needing long drives for points.

NHL Pick:  UNDER 45 at Bet365
