The Cleveland Browns picked up a third straight win in last Thursday’s 37-24 victory over the Buffalo Bills, cashing as a 3 ½-point home betting odds favorite for our NFL picks.

Sunday’s NFL betting has Rob Chudzinski’s club back to an underdog role, hosting the Detroit Lions.

Browns, Weeden pull away

Cleveland erased an early 10-0 deficit in last week’s win, while piling in 20 unanswered points to finish the battle. Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden found wide out Josh Gordon for a 37-yard touchdown to start the late surge, while defensive back T.J. Ward notched a “pick six” interception to cap it off.

Weeden notched 197 passing yards in a 13-for-24 night under center, while running back Willis McGahee dashed for 72 yards on 26 carries. Browns placekicker Billy Cundiff connected 3-of-3 field goals, while his mates committed no turnovers.

Cleveland’s Buster Skrine logged one of his side’s four sacks, while recording a team-high six tackles. The duel’s combined 61 points flew above the NFL odds ‘total’ of 40 ½, moving the OVER to 2-1 in the Browns’ last three games.

Lions fall in Green Bay

Detroit came away with a 22-9 defeat to the Green Bay Packers in last Sunday’s action, failing to collect as a 10-point road dog. The Lions trailed throughout the entire matchup, while leaving Green Bay without a touchdown in its two red zone trips.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 25-of-40 passes for 262 yards through the air, reaching wide receiver Kris Durham for a late scoring strike. Detroit’s Reggie Bush was held to 44 rushing yards on 13 carries, while punter Sam Martin notched a sizable 51.8 YPP in six appearances.

The Lions’ defense allowed 449 total yards, with 180 coming on the ground. Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah logged his side’s sole sack, while the battle’s combined 31 points plunged UNDER the ‘total’ of 53.

Back the Browns as home dogs

Bet365 opened Detroit as a 2 ½-point road favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at 46. Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is listed as “questionable” after missing last week’s affair with a knee injury.

I am backing Cleveland in this spot, taking the short number as part of Sunday’s NFL picks

The Browns enjoy their third straight week of action at home, while also coming in with a few days of extra rest. Cleveland continues to be undervalued by NFL odds makers, notching a 7-3 spread record in its last 10 matchups against clubs with winning records.

Detroit moved to 1-5 ATS in its most recent six road spots with last week’s defeat, while the team’s defense has given up 392.8 YPG through this season’s slate. The Lions were held to season-low scoring without Johnson’s presence against Green Bay, while facing a Browns’ defense here ranking seventh against the pass – holding foes to 207.6 YPG through the air.

Cleveland is 4-1 ATS in its last five spots as a home dog, including a 17-6 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, two weeks ago. Look for the Browns to pick up another cashed ticket here, with most NFL sportsbooks favoring the wrong side again.
