Sunday’s NFL betting has the Chargers clashing with the Titans at LP Field, where Tennessee takes the grass for its home opener.

The Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers have both cashed at 2-0 ATS to start the NFL season, collecting as underdogs through their first pair of contests. Which football picks look profitable in this week's pairing?

Titans fall in O.T.

Tennessee logged a 30-24 defeat to the Houston Texans as part of last weekend’s action, getting the money as a 7.5-point road dog in overtime. The Titans allowed a late touchdown from Houston’s Arian Foster, with the back also taking in a two-point conversion to tie the matchup in regulation.

Titans quarterback Jake Locker threw two touchdowns as part of a 17-for-30 day, finishing with 148 passing yards. Tennessee’s Kendall Wright notched a team-high seven receptions, including his club’s first score to tie the game, 7-7.

The Titans’ defense allowed 452 total yards, giving up touchdowns in all four of Houston’s trips to the red zone. Tennessee’s Alterraun Verner and Bernard Pollard grabbed one interception each, while Titans linebacker Zack Brown recorded a team-high 11 tackles.

Chargers prevail in Philly

San Diego came away with last Sunday’s 33-30 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, retaking a late lead after the Eagles erased a 10-point deficit. Chargers placekicker Nick Novak drilled a 46-yard field goal for his club’s final go-ahead, capping off a 4-for-4 day.

San Diego’s Philip Rivers scorched Philadelphia for 419 passing yards, connecting 36-of-47 strikes. Chargers wide out Eddie Royal caught three touchdowns from Rivers, while tight end Antonio Gates logged eight catches for a team-high 124 receiving yards.

Rivers and Co. controlled the ball for a sizable 40 minutes, moving the chains for 33 first downs. San Diego’s Jarius Wynn logged his squad’s sole sack, while the contest’s combined 63 points soared ‘Over’ the ‘total’ of 51.

Back the Titans as home ‘chalk’

Openings NFL odds listed Tennessee as a three-point home favorite, adding a minus 120 lean to its premium. The ‘total’ was first set at 43.5, with early ‘Over’ wagers lifting the digits a ‘hook’ to 44.

I am backing the Titans as part of Sunday’s sports picks, laying the short number at home.

Tennessee should look forward to its home confines after a pair of challenging road duels, while San Diego finds itself on the road again after an emotional win. The Titans are 4-0 ATS in their last four matchups with AFC foes, while logging a 4-1 spread record in their last five spots on grass.

San Diego’s octane could find itself dropping as part of this duel, with a 0-5 ATS mark in the club’s last five contests that followed a victory. The Chargers were held to 14.5 PPG in their four spots last year that came after scoring 30 points or more.

Tennessee also looks for revenge here after a 38-10 defeat to the Chargers last September as a 6.5-point road dog. The shift to LP Field for this battle should fuel the Titans with an added surge, while getting the money for their backers at a low premium.
