We breakdown the Carolina Panthers' 2015 NFL Schedule and serve up early predictions against the Season Win Totals. Will the Panthers crack the 8.5 win total mark that is currently trading across sportsbooks?

Can The Carolina Panthers Win Third Straight NFC South Title?
A year after winning the NFC South crown behind a solid 12-4 SU mark, the Panthers clinched a second straight title, albeit with a subpar 7-8-1 SU mark. That's how underwhelming the entire division was, prompting many NFL experts and better alike to refer to it as the anaemic division of the NFL.

Every cloud has a silver lining....the Panthers became the first team to win back-to-back titles in a division that has been notoriously unpredictable over the last 15 years or so. In 2015, the Panthers will look to clinch a third straight title and playoff appearance. It's worth noting, however, they aren't the favorites to do so. Trading at +225 NFL odds, they are the second favorites behind the tandem of New Orleans and the Atlanta Falcons, both joint faves at +200 to win the NFC South.

In 2015, the Panthers have a slightly lighter NFL schedule that ranks 27th in the league with a 0.434 winning percentage. Having the sixth "weakest" schedule could play in their favor. Consider they had the 22nd easiest schedule last season.

However, the NFC South as a whole has seen some offseason improvements, particularly at the bottom of the pile. And with the whole division benefiting from some of the softest NFL schedules this season, this year's race to the NFC South title could be just as close as it was last year.

It's worth mentioning that we correctly predicted a subpar season on our NFL picks in 2014 for the Carolina Panthers.  We figured the Panthers would enjoy at best a .500 winning percentage and we were absolutely right, making our recommended NFL pick to back them on the UNDER 8.5 win total at -140 a winner at the cash window.

How will we do this year? Let's see shall we....

Week 1: vs. Jacksonville (road), Sunday, September 13 at 1 PM
The Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars collide in week 1 NFL betting, marking the clash of the two 1995 expansion teams. Playing on the road in the first week of the season can be challenging, but given the strength of the opponent the Panthers should have the edge. The Jaguars are still rebuilding while the Panthers have an established core on both sides of the ball and a solid quarterback calling the shots.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 1-0

Week 2: vs. Houston (home), Sunday, September 20 at 1 PM
The Panthers open the 2015 season at home against a Texans side that looms large on defense. This should be a tough matchup on the defensive side of the ball, but where the Panthers may have the edge is at quarterback. Cam Newton vs. Brian Hoyer. That with home advantage.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 2-0

Week 3: vs. New Orleans (home), Sunday, September 27 at 1 PM
The first NFC South divisional matchup features Panthers taking on the odds makers' faves New Orleans Saints. That the Panthers have home advantage only strengthens the NFL odds for a home win. Nevertheless, this is going to be a tight contest each side will want to win. Both quarterbacks are capable of carrying the offense but where the Panthers have the edge is on defense. The Saints' defense still has too many question marks.

NFL Picks: Win
Record:  3-0

Week 4: vs. Tampa Bay (road), Sunday, October 4 at 1 PM
A second straight divisional contest in the first month of the season pits the Panthers against the developing Bucs on the road. The Panthers swept the series last year winning 20-14 in Tampa in the first week and then clinching the series behind a home 19-17 win. Both those wins came without Cam Newton as he missed the first week with a rib injury and the week 15 clash because of a horrific car accident. He'll be facing the Lovie Smith led side for the first time, but with all the developments the Bucs are undergoing and the potential of Jameis Winston starting, the edge must go towards the Panthers surely on the NFL odds board.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 4-0

Week 5: BYE

Week 6: vs. Seattle (road), Sunday, October 18 at 4:05 PM
It's the NFC divisional rematch as the Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks collide in week 6, following a bye week for the Panthers. The Seahawks have won the last five meetings, despite some close games. Seattle is the far superior team and with this game being played at CenturyLink the Seahawks should prevail.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record: 4-1

Week 7: vs. Philadelphia (home), Sunday, October  25 at 8:30 PM
Chip Kelly's high octane offense descends on the Carolina Panthers in Week 7 NFL betting. Last season, they crushed the Panthers 45-21 in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Eagles have plenty offensive weapons to give the Panthers headaches once again this season.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record: 4-2

Week 8: vs. Indianapolis (home),  Monday, November 2 at 8:30 PM
Another high-octane offense comes to town in week 8 NFL betting, marking a second straight home game against some of the best scoring teams in 2014. Panthers' defense could give Luck something to think about, but the rising star is a savvy shot caller that could lift the Indianapolis Colts to the road win here.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record: 4-3

Week 9: vs. Green Bay (home), Sunday, November 8 at 1 PM
The NFL schedulers haven't been kind to the Panthers in this stretch, sending a third team that rocked the scoreboard last season to Charlotte. Last season, the Panthers lost 38-17at Lambeau. Changing the venue for this game may not make a huge difference as the Green Bay Packers have too many offensive weapons for the Panthers to deal with successfully.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record: 4-4

Week 10: vs. Tennessee (road), Sunday, November 15 at 1 PM
The Tennessee Titans are a side in flux right now with wholesale changes and a rookie quarterback in Marcus Mariota, who could be the starter by this time of the season (if not from the start). The Panthers have the edge on both sides of the ball and while this is a road game few would bet on the questionable Titans on their NFL picks to win, surely.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 5-4

Week 11: vs. Washington (home), Sunday, November at 1 PM
The Redskins strike a very unconvincing pose on the NFL odds board. There are many issues within the organisation from coaching to players on and off the field. The strife that took the headlines between head coach and starting quarterback RGIII doesn't bode well towards a fruitful alliance. Panthers thrive on weaker opponents and they should apply a lot of pressure on RGIII en route to a  rousing win.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 6-4

Week 12: vs. Dallas (road), Thursday, November at 4:30 PM
This should be an interesting NFL betting clash to sink your teeth into on Thanksgiving Day. This is the first meeting between these two franchises since 2012. Worse bit: Panthers haven't beaten the Dallas Cowboys since 2004. The offensive weapons Dallas has should expose some of the weakness that are still inherent in the Panthers' roster.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record: 6-5

Week 13: vs. New Orleans (road), Sunday, December 6 at 1 PM
Last season, the pair split the series with each side winning on the road. The Panthers played one of their best games in the Dome when they stomped the Saints 41-10 to the shock of all and sundry. It's hard to see a similar lopsided result though this time around, despite the question marks on the home side's defense. Nevertheless, the Panthers could shake things up here again to take the win and the leg up in the NFC South.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 6-6

Week 14: vs. Atlanta (home), Sunday, December 13 at 1 PM
The clash with the Falcons marks the second divisional clash for the Panthers in as many weeks. The Falcons are under a new coach Dan Quinn and after some wholesale changes. By week 14 NFL betting, we should have an idea what the team amounts to after the offseason overhaul. At this point in time, with the many questions surrounding the Falcons, the edge has to go to the Panthers. Last season, the Panthers closed the regular s jeason with a 34-3 route in Atlanta that marked their fourth straight win.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 7-6

Week 15: vs. NY Giants (road), Sunday, December 20 at 1 PM
In week 15 NFL betting ,the Panthers take on the Giants in a what could prove a critical game towards the playoff picture. The Giants have made some key steps and the emergence of Odell Beckham Jr. has many NFL bettors quietly excited about their prospects. This could be a close affair that goes either way. With the Giants having home advantage, we're leaning towards them on our early NFL picks.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record: 7-7

Week 16: vs. Atlanta (road), Sunday, December 27 at 1 PM
The Panthers lost a narrow one last season when they travelled to Atlanta. This could be one of those trap games on the NFL betting floor where the Panthers should win but the Falcons somehow throw a spanner in the works down the stretch. Falcons will play tough at home. That said we're banking on the Panthers to challenge for the NFC South title so this is a game they must win.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 8-7

Week 17: vs. Tampa Bay (home), Sunday, January 3 at 1 PM
The Panthers close the season against Tampa Bay at home. By all accounts, this should be a straightforward affair for Cam Newton and Company. Bucs are rebuilding right now and don't figure to be in contention by this stage of the season.

NFL Picks: Win
Record: 9-7

NFL Betting Verdict
By our NFL predictions for the Panthers' 2015 schedule, we have them finishing a healthy 9-7 SU, which should see them crack the 8.5 season win total only just. As it is, the NFL odds makers are favoring the UNDER 8.5 at -140. Obviously, we're going against the grain and recommending the OVER 8.5 at +110.
