Let's go over the the betting odds for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. the Atlanta Falcons for our NFL free picks.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked up their season’s first win in Monday’s 22-19 victory over the Miami Dolphins, cashing as 2 ½-point home dogs. Greg Schiano’s squad remains at Raymond James Stadium for Sunday’s NFL betting matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

Bucs, Rainey end slide

Buccaneers running back Bobby Rainey took in the game’s deciding touchdown against Miami, while rushing for 45 yards on eight carries. Tampa Bay’s Mike Glennon completed 11-of-21 passes under center, finding mate Donald Penn for the contest’s first score.

Glennon and Co. saw an early 15-0 lead erased, despite their defense holding Miami to 213 total yards. Bucs cornerback Darrelle Revis grabbed his second interception of the year, while Lavonte David brought down Miami’s Daniel Thomas for a safety.

The duel’s combined 41 points jumped above the closing ‘total’ of 39 ½, lifting the OVER to 5-0 in the Buccaneers’ last five weeks of action. Tampa Bay’s Rian Lindell hit 2-of-2 field goals, while Gerald McCoy logged one of his squad’s pair of sacks.

Falcons fall at home

Atlanta recorded its third straight loss in Sunday’s 33-10 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks, falling as a 3 ½-point home dog. The Falcons’ defense was lit up for 490 total yards, with 211 coming on the ground.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 172 yards, connecting 23-of-36 attempts. The two-time Pro Bowler reached wide out Darius Johnson for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, ending a 20-0 scoring run for the Seahawks.

Atlanta’s Jacquizz Rodgers and Steven Jackson had quiet days out of the backfield, uniting for 46 rushing yards on 12 carries. The battle’s combined 43 points ducked UNDER the NFL odds ‘total’ of 47, with Falcons linebacker Paul Worrilow notching a team-high 10 tackles.

Back the Bucs at home

Bet365 opened this NFC South Division duel as a pick’em, with initial action on Atlanta moving the Falcons to be two-point road ‘chalk.’ The ‘total’ was first listed at 43 ½, while early UNDER wagers dropped the digits to 42 ½.

I am adding Tampa Bay to Sunday’s sports picks as a home dog play, taking the short number.

The Buccaneers have showed improvement in their last two affairs, with Monday’s win following last week’s 27-24 overtime defeat in Seattle. Tampa Bay should answer the bell again here in a revenge spot against the Falcons, looking to answer back from last month’s 31-23 loss as a six-point road dog.

Bucs wide out Vincent Jackson had one of his best outings of the season in Atlanta, catching a pair of touchdowns and finishing with 138 receiving yards. The home team is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these rivals, with the last two affairs in Tampa Bay decided by three points or less.

Atlanta had yet to pick up a road victory, logging a 0-4 spread record away from home. The Falcons have given up 27.8 PPG in that span, while held to 13 points or less in the stretch’s last two affairs.

Look for Tampa Bay to hand Atlanta another losing ticket, adding to the Falcons’ 2-7 ATS slide in their last nine duels against NFC foes.
