Join Peter Loshak in his week 2 Pete’s Parlay show, where he breaks down public vs. sharp action in search of betting value to generate 4 plays worth adding to your NFL picks.
Week 1 in the NFL saw several public-backed sides cover, while a number of supposedly “sharp” home underdogs failed to cash. In Week 2 of the NFL, the public and sharps will be at odds once again on a number of games.
Pete’s Week 2 Parlay
The most notable Week 2 game with a sharp vs public split is Tampa Bay at New Orleans. The Saints are the only double-digit favorite on the NFL oddsboard this week, and the public has backed Drew Brees to lead New Orleans to a double-digit win. Tampa Bay, as ugly and inept as they may have looked in Week 1, have reportedly nevertheless attracted interest from the sharps, who are willing to bet their money on the Bucs this week if they can get 10 and a hook.
The sharps did cash last week with Buffalo as a home underdog, and once again in Week 2, the public is betting against the Bills at home, taking the Patriots to get a win with the spread close to pick ‘em, and the sharps, once again, are seeing value with the Bills at home.
The sharps are also reportedly going to the well once again with the Washington Redskins, who burned them last week as a home underdog. The sharps saw value with the Skins at home last week, but lost the money they put where their mouth was on that opinion, but in Week 2, they’re going for it again with Washington, this time against the St Louis Rams, who are off of an outright home underdog win themselves.
But maybe the most interesting betting action on NFL Week 2 games so far, and also the most potentially dangerous for the books, is on the Monday night game. The public loves to bet the Colts, as we saw last week, and this week is shaping up to be no different. But the sharps, who often go against the public action on the Colts, as we saw them do last week, actually came in on the Colts earlier in the week, despite the healthy spread they had to lay. When the public and the sharps are on the same side of a game, that is always a very dangerous situation for the books, and especially when it is on a prime time game like Monday Night Football. So we’ll see where this line closes, and if anything at all appears to come back the other way on the Jets.
For my Pete’s Parlay show this week, I selected 4 plays for the parlay – 2 of which were reportedly also favored by the sharps, but one, a total, that goes directly against reported sharp action.
4-Plays Parlay NFL Picks: Houston Texans +3 (-110) & Over 39.5 (-111) / Patriots-Bills Over 44 (-110) / Dallas +4.5 (-110)
