While our plays for Sunday afternoon are still in progress, there are a ton of great NFL Picks for props for the Sunday night game between the Cardinals and Patriots.
Carson Palmer O/U 2 touchdown passes
Carson Palmer and the Cardinals get a nice luxury in Week 1 of the season, getting to face the Patriots without Tom Brady. However, the Patriots’ defense is still really nasty and this will be one of the tougher matchups that the Cards’ receivers have all season against these New England cornerbacks.
The game plan for this one is going to be to get an early lead, but if the Palmer rumors about his arm strength declines are true, this could be a tough game to get three or more passing touchdowns.
My guess is the Cardinals are going to keep the ball on the ground and play to their strengths of having a deep and talented running back core behind the young phenom, David Johnson. Even though the Patriots’ defense is good, the Cardinals might be able to run on them.
I could see Palmer limited to being a game manager more than a gunslinger in this game, especially against the dangerous Patriots corners. Even though he might have about 35-40 pass attempts in this one, the Pats are good enough to limit him in the red zone. New England was slightly above average in red zone defense during last year’s regular season, so as long as they don’t crumble here on the road, I could see the Cards getting the ball in the end zone on the ground.
Free Pick: UNDER 2 (+100)
Martellus Bennett O/U 47.5 receiving yards
I was browsing around for Martellus Bennett receiving yards props earlier and other sportsbooks have him all the way up to 54.5 receiving yards, however, Top Rated Sportsbook Bovada has the number at 47.5. While the juice for the over is a little high at -130, I am all over it this evening for the newest Patriots on the NFL Odds board.
Rob Gronkowski is not playing, the Patriots are down a starter on the offensive line and Dion Lewis is not playing. Oh ad that guy named Brady is suspended. The lack of skill players for Jimmy Garoppolo in this game is kind of severe, so Bennett might be that safety valve for the young quarterback in this game.
The Cardinals can be beaten by the tight end and it may be the Patriots’ best chance of winning this game. Dinking and dunking down the field without Brady could lead to the Pats staying competitive.
However, even if they are behind, Bennett should be a big part of the catch-up offense. At only 47.5 receiving yards, Bennett might only need four or five catches to cash the over for us in this NFL Pick. At a play on the over from Bovada in this one and let’s cash another winning ticket to close out Sunday night.
Free NFL Pick: OVER 47.5 (-130)
