Still yet to have lost this season, the Broncos are expected to keep it that way when they host the Vikings in Week 4. Let's look over the NFL odds and see if we can spot a weak spot.
The Broncos haven't been dominating by any means, but they've done what they've needed to do en route to a 3-0 start. In Week 4 they'll be favored by quite a large margin, with the NFL betting odds at 6.5 or 7 depending on the sportsbook.
We see a relatively low total of 43 points on the board right now, but make sure to keep checking back with SBR to see if there's any movement on those lines throughout the week.
So far so good for the Broncos. They've managed to claw their way to three wins to open up the season, putting them in a great situation early on. They've already faced some stiff competition, yet have overcome the likes of Baltimore, Kansas City and Detroit through the first three weeks of the season.
The offense, led by Peyton Manning, hasn't done all that much to write home about, but they've made the necessary plays, especially down the stretch. Manning has thrown for 755 yards to go with a 5:3 TD:INT ratio, and as expected, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders have seen the majority of the targets. The pair has combined for 507 yards and three TDs already and should be featured prominently again in Week 4.
We've probably been most impressed with Denver's defensive displays over anything else, though. This unit has been downright dominant thus far and could make a case for being the best defense in the NFL thus far. Another difficult test awaits this weekend against one of the best running backs out there in Adrian Peterson, however.
Week 1 was an utter disaster for the Vikings, as they only managed three points in a bad road loss against San Francisco. My how things have changed, as Minnesota has reeled off two wins in a row to improve to 2-1 ahead of Week 4.
First the Vikings topped Detroit 26-16 at home and they followed that up with a convincing 31-14 win over San Diego. Stud running back Adrian Peterson has been a straight up beast and has already run for 291 yards on 59 attempts (a 4.9 YPC average) to go with two touchdowns and five receptions for 79 yards. Teddy Bridgewater hasn't been asked to do much aside from manage the offense and avoid costly mistakes, and he's done a reasonably good job so far.
Defensively the Vikings have looked pretty darn good too, as it's not easy holding teams like Detroit and San Diego in check, considering they have quite a few offensive weapons. Let's see if Minnesota can keep it going against Manning and company before we get ahead of ourselves though.
NFL ATS Pick
The Vikings have earned two nice wins in a row, but we see their lucky running out on the road in the Mile High City this weekend.
It's still early, but this Denver defense looks like one of the best in the NFL, and that should put them in a favorable spot to shutdown Bridgewater, AP and company. Peterson has been running like a madman, but the Broncos seem to be one of the few defenses out there that will be able to keep him at bay. We're not all impressed with Minnesota's passing attack, and Denver likely won't be afraid to challenge Bridgewater to see if he can make plays.
Meanwhile, we like the chances of the Broncos finding success on both sides of the ball. Their excellent balance should serve them well, so we'll add the favorites to our NFL picks for Week 4.
