Sunday Night Football should be a hard-hitting matchup with plenty of defense, but if you read my article on the total, you’ll know that I think there may be some more scoring than most suggest.

Now it’s time to release my pick on the spread, and currently in the NFL Odds, the Bears are either -1 or -2 favorites on the road here. Will Chicago continue on their early season hot streak, or will the Steelers start to turn things around at home and in primetime on Sunday night?

Picket fence

Even if both teams in this game are able to put up some points, there should be no shortage of hard hits, good run defense, and knowing these two offenses, probably a few turnovers. No matter which one of these teams show up however, there should be no shortage of entertaining defense/

The Bears come into this game with the benefit of knowing that the Steelers can’t run the ball, which should be a huge handicap for Pittsburgh in this game. Even though the Steelers are at home, I doubt being at home will magically fix their offensive line issues, and subsequently, their running game. Pittsburgh has already not been that great at home this season or late last season, and they will need everything to go right for them if they want to beat this talented Bears team coming in.

Injury update

Another big problem outside of their running game and offensive line for Pittsburgh is injury. They have already lost a couple of starters for the season, and even though his injury isn’t bad enough to knock him out for the season, cornerback Cortez Allen has already been ruled out for this game.

Ike Taylor will of course be blanketed onto Brandon Marshall for this game, however outside of him, there are several other very good options for the Bears in this game, and I think Chicago will be able to exploit the Pittsburgh secondary, even if Taylor has a good game playing one on one with Marhsall. Alshon Jeffery is due for a big game, and Martellus Bennett has been spectacular through the first two games of the season. Add in Matt Forte out of the backfield, and you have too many options to plan for if you’re a Pittsburgh defender. It might be a pick your poison scenario for Pittsburgh.

Bears vs. Steelers Opening Betting Odds~

The Sharp Pick

The Bears are 5-2 SU in their last 7 road games, while the Steelers are only 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games. Even though they don’t play one another very often, the Bears are leading the all time series between these two teams, beating the Steelers in four of their last six meetings overall.

Marshall did have an injury concern on Thursday, but he practiced on Friday in full and will play Sunday night. With Marshall occupying Taylor on the Steelers defense, along with the issues Pittsburgh is facing on offense, I can’t see many scenarios where the Bears lose this game. It may not be very high scoring, but the Bears are good enough to score 20 or more points and win this game, as long as Jay Cutler controls the game and doesn’t turn the ball over.

My Pick: Bears -1 at Pinnacle for your NFL Picks.
