Much like some of the other AFC divisions we have been updating over the last week, the AFC West has one clear favorite in the NFL Odds, and the other three teams are far down the mountain.
Take a look at our previews for the:
Denver Broncos (+650 Super Bowl, +275 AFC)
The Broncos come in barely second favorite to the 49ers in the Super Bowl odds this season, and it seems as if they might be the best bet to win it all in Super Bowl 48. The Broncos have been steadily improving their team this offseason, and I could not fault anyone for taking them to win the Super Bowl this season, I will give caution, because the NFC has some great teams as well, but the Broncos are a pretty nice price right now at 6.5/1. However I do feel like they may be overvalued too much in the AFC odds, which might lead to their eventual demise. They are just slightly overvalued in the AFC odds this season, and they might even have some early season troubles that could lead to them being fade material early in the season.
San Diego Chargers (+4000 Super Bowl, +1800 AFC)
The Chargers have a new head coach this season and look to be rebuilding some. The Chargers are annually overvalued, and through all the uncertainty this season, they are some how overvalued again. Priced behind them are the Chiefs who I will talk about later, and they could end up with a better record than the Chargers this season. Of course no one is going to touch them to win the Super Bowl or the AFC, but looking at the NFL odds courtesy of Bet365, there are seven teams with +4000 odds to win the Super Bowl, and I think all the other six will be better than the Chargers. Look to fade the Chargers with your NFL picks when the season rolls around.
Kansas City Chiefs (+5000 Super Bowl, +2500 AFC)
We go from the traditionally overvalued to a team that might just be undervalued in the future odds, and potentially this season. The Chiefs will be a far cry from what they were in 2012, and I think 2013 will be a year where we will lay or take points with the Chiefs. After a year in the dumps Andy Reid has been remaking this team and although we won’t take them in any futures bet, I do think they will hold value this season. They are a very small market and no one pays attention to them, which likely means they will be undervalued in the NFL Odds.
Oakland Raiders (+12,500 Super Bowl, +5000 AFC)
The Raiders might just be the worst team in the NFL this season, worse than the Jaguars or even the Bills. The Raiders are priced right in between those two teams in the NFL future odds, but let’s be honest here; the Raiders may only win one or two games this season. What they do have going for them is that because they are in the AFC West, they have one of the easiest strength of schedules of any team in the NFL, but so does every other team in the AFC West, and it’s likely because they get to play the Raiders twice a season. Fade the Raiders, evermore.
