The NFL regular season is over and the playoffs are set. We not only have update future odds to discuss, but NFL Odds for all four wildcard games are out as well. Let’s take a look at some of the updated future odds, and what types of scenarios might be advantageous to an AFC future odds bet. All of the odds mentioned here in this playoff picture are to win the AFC, and are from Bovada sportsbook.

#5 Chiefs (+1400) vs. #4 Colts (+1400)

The Colts in Week 16 blasted the Chiefs, and now they face off against one another, likely for a chance to head into Denver to play the Broncos. The NFL Odds for this one favor the Colts at -2 ½, with a total of 46 ½, and if the Chiefs can turn things around, they might be a solid bet here. While I can’t say that either of these teams have good future odds value, the value on the Chiefs as dogs here might be good. They did get blasted 23-7 against the Colts earlier, but they also only ran the ball 20 times in that game. I can guarantee that Jamaal Charles gets more than 13 carries in this game, and I bet the defense shows up a little more as well. If indeed the Chiefs bring their defense and running game to Indy this weekend, I think the playoff opener could be an upset.

#6 Chargers (+1800) vs. #3 Bengals (+700)

Because of the Dolphins and Ravens losing in Week 17, and the Chargers defeat of the Chiefs, a third AFC West team has made it into the playoffs. The Chargers head into Cincinnati this week and the NFL Odds have the Bengals as -6 ½ favorites, with a total 46. While I think the Bengals will come away with the victory, there is a real chance the Chargers cover the spread here. They have been playing much better defense over the last few weeks, and even though they have lost a ton of guys on offense this season, they could hang with the Bengals. Cincinnati’s offense has been very inconsistent at times this season, and if Phillip Rivers comes in and has another great game, the Bengals might be in danger. Although I can’t back them in the future odds, the Chargers at +6 ½ might be the play for your NFL picks.

Divisional Round

The Broncos grabbed the #1 seed with their blowout win over the Raiders in Week 17, and they are priced in at -140 to win the AFC from Bovada. If indeed the Chargers upset the Bengals, then Denver will play San Diego for the third time this season, however it seems more likely that they end up playing either the Chiefs or Colts in the divisional round.

The Patriots are priced at +350 to win the AFC, and while I think it’s overvaluing them slightly, they are in a similar position to the #2 seed in the NFC, the Panthers. The Patriots would probably much rather play the Bengals than the Chiefs or Colts. The Pats’ defense could shut down Andy Dalton or Alex Smith, but facing Andrew Luck might be a less favorable matchup for them.
