The AFC is much different from its’ counterpart the NFC, as there are only a few teams with legitimate shots at actually advancing to, or winning the Super Bowl.

The NFL odds reflect this, as there is only a small amount of value in betting the AFC future odds this offseason. However with that in mind, let’s take a look at my three-team selection to win the AFC conference this season.

Below you’ll find my three team, 8-unit pick for the AFC championship. A small profit of around +120 is made if one of those three teams advances to the Super Bowl.

Denver Broncos +275 (4 units to win 11 units)

The Broncos are the biggest favorites to win the conference this season and they are one of the top three favorites to win the Super Bowl at Bet365 sportsbook. Denver has gotten even better and now all that seems to be missing is their postseason competence. I think we might see that this season after a growing season in 2012 for Peyton Manning and his new squad.

Their offense has just gotten better this offseason and I like some of the additions they have made to their defense like Terrance Knighton and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. If they can put it all together and Manning can lead them through the postseason, this team is a nice offseason value here in May at +275, and they are the headline of my three-team bet.

New England Patriots +300 (3 units to win 9 units)

Could this be the year the Patriots make it back to the Super Bowl? It seems as if it could be the case as they play in a bad division and they are reloaded very nicely heading into 2013. They still need some help at the X position on the outside, but if their rookie 2nd round pick, Aaron Dobson can get up to speed and become a stabilizer at that position, I really like the Pats offense this season once again. However does it matter that much who Tom Brady is throwing to as long as they can catch it and run?

They have also been doing their best at revamping the defense, which was sharp and horrific at different times last season. The Pats resigned Aquib Talib and snatched Adrian Wilson from Arizona to play safety. New England is another solid AFC bet.

Houston Texans +450 (2 units to win 9 units)

Could this be the Texans’ season to finally get to a Super Bowl? I’m not quite sold because of the two teams above them, but they surely have the best defense of these three teams, and we saw last season that can beat both the Patriots and the Broncos.

The Texans play a key role in my grand NFL picks for the future odds this offseason, and them making it to the Super Bowl could mean great profits or just coming up a unit or two ahead. However, with the defense they have and the talent on offense, this team is bound to make a splash.

The Sharp Pick

Broncos (4 units to win 11 units)

Patriots (3 units to win 9 units)

Texans (2 units to win 9 units)
