The Broncos are currently overwhelming favorites to win the AFC, however even though they have long clinched a playoff spot, since they lost this past week, they have to wait one more week to potentially clinch the top spot in the AFC. It won’t be easy, the Chiefs are also 11-3 SU, and the Patriots are right behind at 10-4.
New England took a big hit with their loss in Miami this past week, and they come in at 5/1 to win the AFC heading into Week 16. They still have an excellent shot at a bye in the first round, however with the loss of Rob Gronkowski, things don’t look too bright in New England right now.
Despite getting beat by the Steelers in Week 15, the Bengals are still right in the thick of things in the AFC. They lead the AFC North by 1 ½ games heading into tonight’s Ravens’ game even after the loss, and even though they have likely played themselves out of bye contention, they still are going to probably get the 3rd seed in the AFC. However to take them in the future odds over the Patriots at the same price would be somewhat foolish in my eyes.
The Chiefs are where most of the disagreement among sportsbooks happens, as I have seen them anywhere from +1000 to +1500 after their big win at Oakland. They currently have the same record as the Broncos, however they do not own the tiebreaker. Being at +1500 is a great value right now, and probably the best in the AFC. The Chiefs could easily steal the #1 overall seed away from the Broncos if Denver slips, and even if they don’t, they have a team that can go on the road and win. If you’re looking for an NFL Odds bet for the futures, the Chiefs and Patriots might be the best value in the AFC Odds.
The Colts helped their cause this past week with a win over the Texans, however they still are not out of the woods despite clinching the AFC South this past week. The lowest they can go is the 4th seed right now, and if the Bengals slip up, they might be able to sneak into the 3rd seed. The Colts have played like a Super Bowl contender and a 1st round out all in the span of about the last six or seven weeks, so depending on which team shows up, the Colts could have great value, or be completely overvalued.
The Ravens really need a win this evening to keep their wildcard hopes alive, but even if they don’t, they would only be a game being the Dolphins for the 6th seed in the playoffs. I’m not ready to write off the Ravens just yet, and if I had to pick another team with value, I would say Baltimore is it.
Dolphins (+3500)Their staple win against the Patriots slingshot the Dolphins back into the playoff picture in the AFC, as they currently hold the 6th seed pending tonight’s game. While I can’t say they have any value in NFL picks, they do have a potent team when they are playing to their potential.
