NFC East division rivals meet when the Philadelphia Eagles travel to face the NY Giants at Met Life Stadium. Each team enters with records of 4-3 SU. Joe Gavazzi finds value in his NFL Pick.

Philadelphia Eagles vs NY Giants (-2) 1:00 ET

No question that the Giants are a far improved team over the 6-10 SU entity of last year, when former HC Coughlin grew long in the tooth. Major reason for improvement this season is a Giants’ defense that is allowing just 20 PPG through 7 games, after allowing 28/421 last season. Major issue is that the running game is failing to keep pace with the passing output of QB Manning. The Giants rush for an average of only 21 times per game for 70/3.3. No one in the NFL has less running yards per game. If the Giants are going to put the ball in the hands of QB Manning to win this game, note that he is 1-8 SU ATS vs. the Eagles, while his GMen are 1-8 SU ATS in this series at this site. The Giants do have the advantage of a week off, following their 17-10 victory over the Rams in London. That, however, deserves an asterisk, as the Giants were outgained 345-232, could run the ball only 20 times for 36 yards, but were gifted the win courtesy of 4 INTs thrown by Rams’ QB Keenum.

On the opposing sideline is an Eagles team, who shocked the NFL world by trading starting QB Bradford to Minnesota, then beginning the season 3-0 SU ATS. In retrospect, the first 2 wins against Cleveland and Chicago, a combined 2 victories, were not impressive. But, the 34-3 blasting of the Steelers the following week caught the attention of the NFL world. Since that time, they have beaten Minnesota at home, but lost road games at Detroit, Washington and last week at Dallas. That loss, against a division rival, on Sunday Night Football was a crime. They actually led the Cowboys by 10 points in the 4th quarter. Still, Dallas deserved the victory with a yardage margin of 460-291 for the game, including 187-97 overland. The bottom line in this contest is that the Eagles first year tandem of HC Pederson and QB Wentz is more impressive than a Giants’ team, whose numbers at the line of scrimmage leave much to be considered.

Let’s try the Eagles as better team dog in a role where they are 3-1 ATS this season.  I invite you to put the NFL ODDS in your favor and join me in my NFL PICK on the Philadelphia Eagles this afternoon.
