Even though the NFL Week technically kicks off on Thursday, with only one game it’s hard to find value sometimes. That’s why parlaying your two plays on the spread and total could give some extra value to your NFL Picks.

Tonight's Steelers vs. Ravens Prop Betting Odds & Picks

Spread play
For the spread tonight, the NFL Odds have the Ravens as -2 ½ home favorites, but with all of the turmoil and national media attention the Ray Rice situation has given this team recently, it may not be the best time to be laying points with the Ravens. Even with being at home, their defense gave up almost 400 totals yards of offense last week, and with no running game to speak, of, this team is going to be playing an uphill battle all game against the Steelers.

Despite Pittsburgh’s defense not looking great in Week 1, their offense is going to score enough points to cover this spread. I wouldn’t even be opposed to using their moneyline NFL Odds to parlay with the total. Their money line odds right now sit at around +130 at 5Dimes, and parlaying that with the total would give you a potential payout of almost +340. That’s nearly $100 more payout on a $100 bet than just wagering the spread and total in a parlay. Either way, the Steelers should have little problem scoring, even on the road.

Total play
Above I mentioned that the Ravens’ defense gave up almost 400 yards of total offense last week to the Bengals. However after looking like the Steeler would destroiy the Browns early on, the Steelers allowed Cleveland back into the game. The Browns also had nearly 400 yards of total offense against the Steelers, and now going on the road to face a much better Baltimore offense, the Steelers might one again give up a ton of yards.

Dating back to last season, the Steelers are 5-1 cashing the over in their last six games, and they are 5-2 cashing the over in their last seven games as road underdogs between +1/2 and 3 points. For the Ravens, the over is 4-0 in their last four games coming off of giving up over 350 yards. At 44 ½, the total is just a bit too low, and I think bettors can take advantage.

The key to this game will be red zone offense. I’m projecting a high amount of field goals in this game, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a lot of scoring. At 44 ½, the total is lower enough to where field goals can still help out this play. Four or five total touchdowns and 2-4 field goals will do enough, and with the way these offenses looked last week, that should be no problem. The Ravens will want to pass the ball plenty in this one to make up for their lack of a run game, and the Steelers will be forced to match it. Along with the Steelers either in the spread or moneyline NFL Odds, take the over with this parlay as part of your NFL picks.
