With the release of the NFL schedule, the NFL offseason is quickly heating back up. We are looking at teams that may have had their season win total NFL odds improved by the release of the schedule.
The Colts were one of our favorite teams to talk about in the Google Hangout we did on the night the schedule was released, and after looking at their schedule, there is little doubt that they could be one of the better teams in all of football next season. They should be an improved team, they play in one of the weakest divisions in football, and they play against the AFC East and the NFC South this season. These two divisions aren’t bad at all, and even though it means we get to see them square off against the defending champion, Patriots, the game is in Indianapolis. They also have to play the Broncos, but that too will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium. Other than the Falcons, the Colts’ strength of schedule is the easiest in the NFL, and with a season win total of only 9 ½ or 10 depending on where you look, Indy might be a great over value in the NFL odds for win totals this season.
Speaking of the Falcons, they too look like they could be poised for many more wins this season. Their season win total is sitting at eight, and with hopefully an improved defense and a healthy offense, this team could very easily get to nine wins this season. Not only do they get the benefit of playing the Bucs twice this season, most of their tougher games are at home. By far the best opponents they will face this season outside of New Orleans are the Eagles, Cowboys and Colts, and they get to play both Philadelphia and Indianapolis at home. As long as Atlanta can find their running game this season with sophomore running back, Devonta Freeman, this team could be back to double digit win territory with this schedule.
New York Jets
The J-E-T-S Jets’ strength of schedule is right around the middle of the pack this season, but if everything comes together for this team, things might not be too bad for them in a potential playoff hunt. The AFC is going to once again be down this season, and luckily for them they play the AFC South and NFC East this season, which should have some positive impacts. A new coaching staff, and upgraded offense, and a new/old look secondary of Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie could mean big things for the Jets this season. At only 6 ½ wins in the NFL Odds this season, it would not surprise me at all to see the Jets make it to seven or eight wins this season. They will need to win a few games they aren’t supposed to, but I see games against the Browns, Redskins, Raiders, Jaguars and Titans that look like wins. Asking the Jets to beat only two more teams from the other 11 on their schedule might mean a good over bet for your NFL picks.
