Should you buy what the Cleveland Browns are selling in 2016? We preview their NFL schedule and serve up game-by-game NFL picks with a view towards predicting their season win total.

Cleveland Browns 2015 Look Back
There’s really not much to say about a forgettable 2015 season that ended on a 3-13 SU mark. Granted it was the worst record of the league shared with the Tennessee Titans but of the pair the Browns left the NFL betting public largely unimpressed more so than the Titans.

Where do the Browns go from here? Bookmakers set the line at 4.5 in projected season win total betting with the Over favoured at -130 NFL odds. However, the UNDER is priced at EVEN money. The fact that the UNDER isn’t backed out further is telling. It’s reasonable to assume the Browns flop in 2016.

Indeed, looking at their NFL schedule it’s not going to be a walk in the park for RGIII and the Browns. Heck, there are those pundits that are offering up the idea the Browns just might go 0-16 SU on the season. Yikes.

These are worrying times in Cleveland. Well, as far as football is concerned. Thanks to LeBron James and the Cavs the year isn’t a total write off in the context of sports betting. The Browns have uncertainty at quarterback – RGIII hasn’t been fit for an entire season in forever it would seem, not to mention his fall from grace is one of the most remarkable stories in the NFL after Johnny ‘Football’ Manziel’s well documented failure to launch as a Brown’s quarterback. And the organisation as a whole has undergone changes from top to bottom that it makes anything verging on a positive outlook a long shot.

On that note, we look towards the NFL schedule and serve up game-by-game NFL picks with a view towards serving up the choice NFL pick towards the Brown’s season win totals. If we were honest, it’s going to read like we’re just going through the motions. A 0-16 mark is a real possibility making the UNDER, UNDER, UNDER the top NFL pick.

Cleveland Browns 2016 NFL schedule Game-by-Game Predictions At A Glance

Week 1 vs.  Philadelphia (away), Sunday, September 11
Even with all the question marks hanging over Philadelphia Eagle in the post-Chip Kelly era, there’s enough talent on this team to make a home win an almost certain bet for the Eagles. Colour the world shocked If the Cleveland Browns get a W in week 1 of the NFL season.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-1

Week 2 vs. Baltimore, Sunday, September 18
Baltimore Ravens are coming off a forgettable 2015 season. A repeat is unlikely. It may be a home-opener for the Browns and, potentially even, a debut by RGIII before his new fans, but the Ravens are simply the better team on paper. It’s all about the Xs and Os.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-2

Week 3 vs. Miami (away), Sunday, September 25
One never really knows what to expect from the Miami Dolphins. Last year, following the acquisition of Ndamukong Suh from the Lions they were talked up. This season they just acquired Arian Foster and other bits and bobs. They’re being talked up again. It remains to be seen whether they actually live up to the potential of the sum total of their parts. Suffice it to say beating the Browns is de rigueur. How will they look in the mirror if they don’t?

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-3

Week 4 vs. Washington (away), Sunday, October 2
If RGIII is the starter and healthy this could be an interesting game as he tries to stick it to his old team. Kirk Cousins though will be keen to prove he was the right choice too. If there were a game that was a tossup it could be this one. Still, on balance, you have to like the Redskins all over the Browns in the nation’s capital.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-4

Week 5 vs. New England, Sunday, October 9
Loss, Loss, Loss, Loss…. Oh.. and Tom Brady is back in week 5 after completing his four-game suspension.  Two words: Chip. Shoulder. Need we say more?

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-5

Week 6 vs. Tennessee (away), Sunday, October 16
Maybe a winnable game if it were played at home. On the road, you can bet the Titans will be thinking the same thing: it’s a winnable game.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-6

Week 7 vs. Cincinnati (away), Sunday, October 23
The Bengals have owned the Browns in recent memory. Last year, they swept the series by a combined score of 68-13. They year prior they served notice with a 30-0 win over the Browns in Cleveland, handing Manziel a rude introduction into the NFL. This should be a fourth straight win at the expense of the Browns.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-7

Week 8 vs. NY Jets, Sunday, October 30
The NY Jets are still mired in a quarterback controversy but one assumes they’ll have it sorted out before the season gets underway. Definitely by week 8, they should be in their stride. Jets have too much talent on both sides of the ball.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-8

Week 9 vs. Dallas, Sunday, November 6
Dallas is synonymous with Tony Romo. So Long as the quarterback is healthy they are contenders. Assuming he’s healthy and raring to go into week 9 NFL betting the Browns should be in a whole slew of trouble.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-9

Week 10 vs. Baltimore (away), Thursday, November 10
It’s a short week, a date with the Baltimore Ravens on the road. The Browns won’t even have to try to find ways to lose this game. They simply will.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-10

Week 11 vs. Pittsburgh, Sunday, November 29
The Steelers easily have the most explosive offense in the NFL and so long as Ben Roethlisberger is healthy this is a formidable side. It’s a mismatch of huge proportions.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-11

Week 12 vs. NY Giants, Sunday, November 27
If the Browns are stinking up the league as we’re predicting they’ll be the NY Giants will be wary of becoming the first team to lose to the hapless Giants. Nothing is certain where the Giants are concerned, but this should be an up year for the Giants so they’ll avoid the hiccup.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-12

Week 13 BYE

Week 14 vs. Cincinnati, Sunday, December 11
The Cincinnati Bengals will look for the series sweep over the Browns here. Not even the Bye week will help the Browns prepare for this stellar AFC North side.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-13

Week 15 vs. Buffalo (away), Sunday, December 18
Although not everyone is sold on Tyrod Taylor, the Bills defense is nothing to sniff at. December and travel conspire against the Browns.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-14

Week 16 vs. San Diego, Saturday, December 24
Just like the NY Giants game, this is one that could go either way. In fact, this one more so than the Giants game in our books. If there is going to be a belated win on the season this is the match we’ve circled. Simply put, the Chargers leave much to be desired and as good as Philip Rivers is he can’t do it alone. Then again if the Browns are really done and done by week 16 it’s hard to see how they would get up for this game.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-15

Week 17 vs Pittsburgh (away), Sunday, January 1
Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers should be in playoff contention with rivals Bengals and Ravens at this stage of the season. Don’t see them losing to the Browns at Heinz Arena if the stakes are so high.

NFL Picks: Loss
Record 0-16

NFL Projected Season Win Totals for the Browns: In a word: disaster. It seems churlish to write off the Cleveland Browns even before summer camp gets going, but, at this point in time, a bagel in season win totals is a very real possibility. The best (and this is stretching it) is a 4-12 season but the challenge is finding which four games on their schedule are likely to serve up those precious four wins. In any event, the point we’re trying to make is taking the UNDER 4.5 at +100 NFL odds, which is a great price tag all things being considered.
