The defending champion Seahawks will welcome Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to Seattle in early Week 1 action. What kind of odds have been released for this NFC showdown?

The NFL is back! The regular season kicks off tonight, and what a showdown it should be at CenturyLink Field.

There hasn't been much of a change to the odds since our opening lines report. Most books still have a line of 5.5 or 6 available.

There are no major injury updates to report, as both teams appear to have all of their top players available. That includes Percy Harvin, who returned to practice this week and looks to be good to go for tonight.

As far as our NFL picks, we've decided to back Seattle in this spot. It's tempting to take the points that come with a great offensive team in Green Bay, but the Seahawks are stacked on both sides of the ball and have proven to be mighty tough to beat at home.

NFL Pick: Seahawks -5.5

In what will be the first meeting between these teams since 2012, the Seahawks and Packers will go head-to-head on Thursday. You couldn't ask for a more compelling matchup to kick off the regular season.

Opening NFL odds had Seattle favored by 5.5 points, but most sportsbooks have a line of six available now. The O/U has shifted upwards a point, with the current number at 46 at the top sites.

Seattle in 2013-14 Regular Season: 13-3 SU, 11-5 ATS, +11.6 margin of victory

Green Bay in 2013-14 Regular Season: 9-7 SU, 7-9 ATS, -0.7 margin of victory

Although the Seahawks obviously had the better year, topped off by a Super Bowl win, there's certainly a case for backing each of these teams in this Week 1 battle.

Seattle will look to open their title defense with a good showing, particularly because they'll be in front of their adoring fans. The Seahawks have been practically unbeatable at home in recent seasons, and you know the crowd will be ready to go for the season opener. Russell Wilson should only continue to improve, Percy Harvin is healthy, and that defense should be dominant once again.

But let's not forget about what Green Bay brings to the table. The Packers have one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and they've got plenty of standout names on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Rodgers is surrounded by Eddie Lacy, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb among others, with Clay Matthews, A.J. Hawk and Julius Peppers patrolling in the defense.

If you think the Packers are the right side, head over to Bookmaker to get a better number, as that extra half-point could make all the difference in the end. It's not the worst thing in the world to have as many as 6 points to play with when you've got a stud quarterback like Rodgers on your side. Will the public agree and drive the lines down?

For those thinking Seattle will take care of business at home, we don't blame you either. A majority of online sportsbooks have a spread of five on the board, which just goes to show you how good the Seahawks are capable of playing at CenturyLink Field. Not many teams will be favored by that much against Green Bay this season.
