Johnny Manziel going to the Cowboys is a rumor that's been around since Dallas had the chance of taking him in the 2014 NFL Draft. Now, the NFL odds suggest that there's a shot that it happens.
If you follow recent sports news and gossip you've probably heard about Manziel's famous escapades. 'Johnny Football' was recently seen dancing and holding a bottle of liquor at a bar in Dallas with Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons and Stars centre Tyler Seguin. Several photos that circulated on many sites appear to corroborate that the video was taken last Sunday, as one of the pictures shows the Patriots/Broncos game on in the background.
Manziel took a trip to Las Vegas while on concussion protocol in early January, wore a disguise to hide his identity and didn't show up for the Browns' final game of the season. He entered a treatment facility last offseason after his work ethic was questioned because of his off-field anthics and he finally earned the Browns' starting quarterback job but he was demoted because he lied about photos of him partying during a bye weekend. He also was involved in a domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend in October.
Since the Browns fired coach Mike Pettine, there have been several reports that suggest that the team is completely done with ‘Johnny Football’ and his partying lifestyle. Cleveland hired Hue Jackson as their new coach and he allegedly took the job because the Browns promised him that Manziel was going to leave, so keep this in mind if you place NFL picks on Manziel's future.
To make matters worse, Police were called to investigate an incident involving Manziel and his ex-girlfriend in Texas. A news release from the Police revealed that they could not locate a crime scene and that Manziel had not been arrested. Manziel's ex-girlfriend declined to cooperate, but told officers of her concerns regarding the well-being of her ex-boyfriend. Manziel is said to be safe and not in danger.
When asked about the incident, the Cleveland Browns said that they have no comment at this time. According to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, the league was aware of the incident and "looking into it."
Sports Illustrated's Peter King stated that Manziel wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys next season. He is still under contract with the Browns for two more years. Bovada currently has the Cowboys as the likeliest landing spot for Manziel next season at +200 NFL odds.
