Peyton Manning faces his old team in Week 1, and has the luxury of being at home. The Broncos are heavily favored against Andrew Luck and the Colts, but are they the best bet with our NFL picks this weekend?

This is where it pays off to use multiple books when fishing for the best available NFL odds.

Some books have the spread at 7.5, while a couple here and there even have a spread of nine available. That's some great value if you think Indianapolis can make a game of this.

The Broncos are obviously a powerhouse, and everything appears in place for them to make another Super Bowl.

However, we feel this may just be too many points in Week 1 against a good Colts team. Andrew Luck isn't going to back down, and he's got Reggie Wayne back and healthy now too. We're going to take those nine points and side with Indianapolis as NFL Picks for Sunday Night Football.
Free NFL Pick: Colts +9

We all know the deal. Manning is as it good as it gets, and he proved that to be true once again last season, posting historic numbers and leading Denver to a 13-3 regular season record.

The Broncos went on to get thumped by Seattle in the Super Bowl, but that doesn't take away from what was a highly profitable season for Denver backers. Not only did the Broncos win 13 games, they covered 10 times during the regular season.

Ditto for Andrew Luck and the Colts, who posted a 10-6 ATS mark. Indianapolis, however, faces a tall order in Week 1 in the eyes of oddsmakers, who have made the road team 7.5-point favorites. The line is as high as nine at some books.

With these two prolific offenses in action, no one should be surprised by a high total of 55 points on the NFL odds.

Denver in 2013-14 Regular Season: 13-3 SU, 10-5-1 ATS, +12.9 margin of victory

Indianapolis in 2013-14 Regular Season: 11-5 SU, 10-6 ATS, +3.4 margin of victory

The Broncos are always going to be a top contender with Manning calling the shots. He's still got quite the supporting cast around him, despite an early-season suspension to Wes Welker and the departure of Eric Decker.

Montee Ball had a great season in 2013-14 and will be involved heavily in the running game, with Ronnie Hillman hoping to get some work too. Demaryius Thomas is a top three receiver in the NFL and should have another monster season as the headline of a receiving corps that also features new arrivals Emmanuel Sanders, Andre Caldwell and rookie Cody Latimer. Don't forget about tight end Julius Thomas either. Defensively, Denver made a big splash by bringing DeMarcus Ware on board.

There's no reason to believe a dropoff in offensive production for Indianapolis either. The Colts are in good hands with Andrew Luck, though they could use more efficiency from Trent Richardson out of the backfield. Still, that wideout group that includes Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton and Hakeem Nicks is as dangerous as you'll see.

Where's the best value with our free NFL picks? It's going to be hard not to look at the 'Over' given the sheer amount of offensive prowess that will be on that field on Sunday night, but we'll have our finalized play later on.
