Magician Derek Carr pulled another rabbit out of his helmet, leading the Oakland Raiders to their fifth straight road win (and cover) in Tampa against the Buccaneers. Let’s look at what happened Sunday afternoon and make an early week 9 NFL pick.

Raiders Road Warriors But Still Penalty-Stricken, Janikowski Proves Human

In week 8 we learned that the Oakland Raiders are indeed a better team on the road this season (5-0 SU/ATS), good in OT (W6) but still commit penalties in their sleep (NFL record 22 for 200 yards). On Sunday, Derek Carr (513 yards) connected with Seth Roberts on a 41-yard TD pass in OT to lead the Silver & Black to a 30-24 win in Tampa to beat the Buccaneers (0-3 SU at Home). And the New England Patriots also got revenge for its only Loss of the season, rolling to a 41-25 win in Buffalo to improve to 9-2 ATS the L11 at Orchard Park as Tom Brady connected for TDs with his four prime Receivers (Gronkowski, Edelman, Amendola, Hogan) with his TE and buddy Rob Gronkowski breaking Stanley Morgan’s team record for TD’s. So we re-learned that the Patriots are the team to beat.

Ties Ain’t No Big Thang in NFL, Cardinals and Seahawks Lose "Back" East, Are the Chiefs the Real Deal?

We also exported a Tie to England to show them the Draws in their English Premier League can be equaled in American Football—even if the NFL version comes with a little more shame and not a point as a reward. The Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Redskins performed that 27-27 reality on Sunday at London’s Wembley Stadium, less than a week after the Seahawks and Cardinals played to a 6-6 thriller in Glendale on SNF in one of the best games of the season. Luckily for the Bengals (3-4-1), the Browns lost to the Jets and the Steelers and Ravens had their Byes in Week 8. And the Cardinals and Seahawks both lost in Charlotte and New Orleans respectively to teams on paper we all know they should beat. But after that aforementioned 5-quarter bruising NFC West meeting at UoP, both Rosters had to feel beat up and traveling to the ET and CT meant morning football for their West Coast bodies. Arizona and Seattle will both sleep well Monday night.

And how about those Kansas City Chiefs (5-2 SU, 3-4 ATS)? (We do this dance about this time every year, don’t we?) QB’s Nick Foles, Alex Smith, and the Chiefs took an early lead and led all the way in defeating Andrew Luck and the Colts in Naptown on Sunday, 30-14, easily covering ATS as 3-point Road Favorites (BetDSI). Kansas City has played 3 straight Unders and 5 of the L6 Chiefs games have gone Under the Total after closing the 2015 NFL Regular Season with 2 Unders.
