The Arizona Cardinals are a good pick to avenge last season's NFC Championship drubbing by the now-struggling Carolina Panthers, as well as the Eagles plus the points over the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Here are a few other last-minute Week 8 NFL picks.

New York Jets (-3) at Cleveland Browns

Both defenses are atrocious and should yield enough points in this one to eclipse a below-average total. The Jets have played the toughest schedule in the NFL through Week 8, up against some of the league’s best point-stuffing units (Seahawks, Steelers, Chiefs, Cardinals, etc.). Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and company should have a bit of a rebirth on Sunday. New York has played two games as favorites this season, scoring 37 and 24 points respectively. The Browns, meanwhile, are 4-0 O/U in their last four as a road dog, reaching their team total or beyond in each.

Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers (-2.5)

Carolina’s secondary is a wreck, and even a bye week will not be able to plug the holes since cornerback Josh Norman departed, important to take into consideration when making your NFL picks. A shutdown corner is vital to head coach Ron Rivera’s scheme, and the unit is devoid of one this season. Neither offense has lived up to expectations, but the Cardinals’ defense is proving one of the league’s best, yielding 9 points total in its last two games. Arizona is 9-1 SU and ATS as an underdog of a field goal or less under head coach Bruce Arians, and it rolls out a live pup in this NFC Championship rematch.

New England Patriots (-6.5) at Buffalo Bills

This spot has a history of fireworks. The OVER is 5-2 when the Patriots square off against Rex Ryan on the road, including an average combined score of 56.6 points in the last five meetings. All signs point to another shootout. The Bills have scored 4.9 points more than the betting market projects this season, third-most in the NFL behind the Falcons (9.1) and Chargers (5.6).  New England is averaging 31.7 points in three games with Tom Brady under center.

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys (-4.5)

Dallas’ defense is the unsung hero behind the revelation of rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. It’s allowing 17.8 points per game and has kept every opponent below its projected team total this season. The Eagles, though, find ways to score, putting up 20 points or more in every game this year. Something has to give on Sunday night, and we predict it will be the Cowboys’ defense. It has been very efficient points-wise, yielding only .292 per play (ninth in the NFL). But it’s been run over for 5.9 yards per play (23rd). The points allowed will catch-up eventually.
