To help you put together your choice NFL picks for Week 8, we’ve collated several NFL betting trends that could strongly impact various outcomes. You could say, we’ve got you covered.

Going Over Thursday Night Football Trends
Seven weeks into NFL betting and the ‘over’ has cashed in six of the seven Thursday night games. Indeed, the emerging average point production is 54.1 points through seven weeks of football betting, including week 7’s 27-25 win by the Patriots over the Jets. This Thursday we have a top-notch divisional billing between the Chargers and Broncos. While the ‘under’ has cashed in four of San Diego’s last six games with Denver and the ‘under’ has cashed in three of San Diego’s seven games this season, there’s a feeling this game could buck that trend and go ‘over.’

Consider the Broncos are 4-2 in over-under betting this season, which includes a three-game ‘over’ streak including the 42-17 win over the Niners in week 7 NFL betting. The Broncos offense has been dictating a furious pace on the field, not to mention Peyton Manning has been putting on a how-to clinic in passing touchdowns. The last three games saw the Broncos hang twice over 40-points and no less than 30 points on the opposition, all while allowing an average of 18 points against. If the Broncos continue on this trend, outscoring the opposition in a big way, the Chargers will have their hands full keeping them off the scoreboard. Indeed, the ‘over’ could prove the savvy NFL pick in this game.

Sunday’s Slate
Several games on week 8’s NFL betting slate practically leap off the NFL odds board. The AFC North rivalry featuring Ravens at Bengals is delicately nestled on a 1.5-point spread but it could go against the grain according to several NFL pundits. Bengals are currently the chalk, but the Ravens are riding a two-game winning streak and they are 5-1 SU in their last six games. Bengals, meanwhile, were left munching on a bagel in Indianapolis, a disappointing account that’s simply impossible to ignore. Granted Bengals are 11-1-1 SU in their last 13 home games, but, surely, it’s back to the drawing board after the debacle in week 8 NFL betting. If there were a time to strike, now is a good time for the Ravens to do so when the Bengals are still reeling and look to be losing momentum.

New England Patriots are 12-9-0 ATS as home favourites since 2012 with an average margin of victory standing at 9.9-points. Chicago Bears are in all sorts of trouble right now, slipping to their fourth defeat on the season at home to Miami in week 8 NFL betting. Confidence is at an all time low, exacerbated by strife and dissention amongst players. Bears have been outscored 157 to 171 through seven games of the season and that trend looks to continue behind a porous defense and a frightening turnover ratio. The Bears have been a better road team this season, winning three of their four outings. But with New England Patriots boasting a 6-1 SU record in their last seven games with Chicago, that trend is in danger of ending.

Green Bay and New Orleans collide in a must-see game on the week’s NFL betting slate. The ‘over’ has cashed in six of Packers’ seven games this season while New Orleans have gone ‘over’ in five of their six games this season. Indeed, those trends make a strong case for the ‘over’ 54.5-points set for this Sunday Night billing.  Another NFL pick to consider in this game based on current trends is to back the Packers as the 1.5-point pups (an NFL line that has dropped a half-point since Sunday when we previewd the game). Packers are riding the momentum of four straight wins, third best winning streak behind Dallas (6 wins) and Colts (5 wins) and they are 4-2-1 ATS this season with an average margin of victory at 7.4 points.

Other trends to consider include the Raiders are 2-5 SU against Cleveland in their last seven games, which doesn’t bode well for them as they continue to search for their first win of the season. The total has gone over in seven of the last ten games between Minnesota and Tampa Bay, while the Eagles are 2-7 SU in their last nine games when playing Arizona on the road.

So there you have it, some NFL betting trends to keep in mind when looking at the coming week’s NFL odds board in search of value NFL picks.
