Week 9 in the NFL and the one thing that stands out is that there's a lot of competitive matchups today in which the betting odds are low. See who we like as our NFL Picks of the Day for week 9.

Denver Broncos vs Oakland RaidersThe Real Deal

The Oakland Raiders are off to one of their best starts in franchise history and it's mainly coming off the arm of gunslinger, Derek Carr. Carr is putting up huge numbers and if he keeps going at this rate, he'll go down as the best quarterback in Oakland Raiders history.

Last week, Carr set a Raiders record when he threw for 513 yards on 40 of 59 with 4 touchdown passes in a 30-24 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One thing is for certain, the Oakland Raiders are never out of a game with Derek Carr at the controls and Raiders offense will need to be at their best as they face possibly the best defense in the league in the Denver Broncos, who are led by Super Bowl 50 MVP, Von Miller.

Cooper and Crabtree

In order for a quarterback to have success, he must have capable receivers to throw the football to and Amari Cooper (787 yards, 2 TD) and Michael Crabtree (569 yards, 6 TD) fit that label.

Cooper has caught a pass of 20 yards or more 14 times this season. He's also coming off of a 12 reception, 173 yard, 1 TD performance in the win over Tampa Bay. Where Michael Crabtree is concerned, a lot was expected of him out of college and as a member of the San Francisco 49'ers, he didn't meet those expectations. As a member of the Raiders, he's found a "new life" that has revitalized his career and is a sure fire 1000 yard receiver this season barring injury.

Derek Carr might not have the same success against Denver as he did against Tampa Bay, but he's coming into this get with a ton of confidence and momentum and I expect more of Latavius Murray in the backfield, but Carr should see some success in this game.

The Art of Defense

An elite defense can win a team a Super Bowl even with just an average quarterback and that's what happened last season to Denver. This season, there's been injuries and substitutions at the quarterback position for the Broncos and they've still managed to go 6-2 and are tied on top of the AFC West Division with the Raiders. This is a team that has allowed just 136 points through 8 games this season.

With C.J. Anderson out indefinitely, the Broncos really need running back, Devontae Booker to answer the call as Denver will need to put up a decent amount of points to win this game. In his last two games, Booker has reached the endzone and has played rather well. It's mandatory that he play's well here.

Indianapolis Colts vs Green Bay Packers"Must Win" Situation For Indy?

At 3-5, the Indianapolis Colts can't afford a 6th loss as they would have to most likely run the table from there and that's not likely. This week, the Colts get the worst case scenario as they travel to Lambeau Field and face a very confident Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers squad. Some people were writing Rodgers off, but last week's 33-32 loss to Atlanta in which Rodgers threw for 4 touchdown passes, put an end to that idea very quickly. Green Bay also need's this game too. A loss here would put the Packers at .500 and that would provide a problem concerning the NFC playoff picture.

Wide receiver, Randall Cobb ,is questionable for this game after missing  his last game against Atlanta. While Rodgers have very capable receivers in Jordy Nelson (415 yards, 6 TD) and Davante Adams (424 yards, 5 TD), his running game isn't always reliable and sometimes it's difficult to get that extra yard to put the Packers into the endzone. Eddie Lacy has gotten in better shape and managed 360 yards on 5.1 yards per carry, but he hasn't been able to reach the endzone and is a very inconsistent running back. Against the arm of Andrew Luck and the pass catching ability of T.Y. Hilton, Aaron Rodgers will definitely look towards the passing game for Green Bay to win.

No Luck for Luck?

Andrew Luck came into this league with a ton of confidence and led his team to a 12-4 record in his rookie season, but has yet to find that same success since. Luck has the tools to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but a great quarterback finds a way to win games and the Colts defense is allowing a whopping 27.5 points per game. Look for the Colts to at least keep this game close as their backs are against the wall as you NFL Pick.
