The New York Giants, at 4-4, might be the most confusing team in the league to figure out and their 52-49 loss in New Orleans is a microcosm of that. Tampa Bay is 3-4 and has quietly won two of their last three as they prepare to host the Giants.
Opening Odds & Line Movement
Open: -2.5 -105 at Pinnacle
The Giants opened as 2.5-point favorites on the road and that is where NFL odds stay for now, but there are a lot of questions to ask of their defense, which made the now-benched Colin Kaepernick look good against San Francisco, while Philadelphia scored 27 on them. Even Dallas scored 20 on the Giants, and that was led by Matt Cassel, who threw three picks. While Drew Brees and the Saints deserve a lot of credit, allowing 52 points is a bad look, even when your offense scored 49. Tampa Bay's defense is no better, but they looked inspired in Atlanta, and a similar effort could net them a win on Sunday.
***Giants vs Buccaneers ATS Pick Preview***
Jason Pierre-Paul has had his practice routine sped up after missing the season with his hand injury, but it's unlikely he'll be ready for Sunday. WR Rueben Randle didn't practice because of his hamstring, but he should play. Also, keep an eye on CB Prince Amukamara, who has missed the last three games with a pectoral injury, but he might be able to practice this week.
For the Buccaneers, WR Vincent Jackson didn't practice because of a knee injury, but TE Austin Sefarian-Jenkins also didn't practice and he should play for Tampa Bay.
The Giants are 4-3-1 ATS so far this season, including a decent 2-1-1 ATS on the road. The Bucs have covered in four of seven games this season, but they're only 1-2 ATS at home. The total is set at 48, and Tampa Bay has gone under in 12 of their last 17, while the Giants have gone over in seven of their last 10.
The Buccaneers are 3-7 SU and 5-5 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Giants, who are 4-4 SU and 3-4 ATS in eight games in Tampa Bay.
